As has been stated before fuel consumption will not be much less. As for wear on the engine that will not be any less either. Running at lower rpm would require a higher load/rpm on the engine. Same load, lower rpm means higher exhaust temp, poorer cooling etc. higher engine wear is the result. Run it up to speed and don't worry.

add all the emissions crap thats done to the engine and the need for running at speed increases further.

To me, one of the attractive features of the new JD tractors is the economy pto to run the pto at 540 while the tractor runs at a lower rpm in order to save fuel. Does Kubota have a similar feature? If not, does anyone know if Kubota plans on offering a similar feature?

I was mistaken when I said my B2320 did not have that feature.

What it does have is a selector that allows the choice of either:

1. 540 rpm off the rear pto at roughly 2800 rpm engine speed

Or

2. 960 rpm off he rear and 2500 off the center pto at (I think) the same engine speed.

So the way it looks to me is if you wanted to run 540 off the rear at 1400 engine rpm you could do it in he 2nd pto position.

Of course, hp to he pto would be significantly reduced, and Kubota might not like it too much re your warranty.
