Kubota engine oil

I can't get this site to function properly. Maybe it's just me. Does it offer info on synthetic oil choices and off road farm equipment?

The first link lists the different Rotella oils and describes each. References are mostly trucks.

The second link is a forum on motorcycles starting off talking about Rotella T5 or T6.

I scanned them but did not see farm equipment mentioned. Maybe it was there.

Rotella Change it every 15000 miles. Went 1385000 miles before I had it inframed. Have around 650000 miles on the inframe. Don't have to add any between changes

To each their own but why would you spend $20k+ on a tractor then want to save $20 by going with conventional oil? I use synthetic because it gets very cold up here but I would use it anyway. Is it needed? Probably not. I usually plan on keep my cars to around 150k miles. I plan on keeping my tractor for the rest of my life. We aren't talking about outright failure but just how worn the engine will be 20 years (or more) from now. Even if you change your oil every year than you're only talking $600 over 30 years.

Surely that's a good engine to start with but that many miles has to mean you have driving habits that help out in a big way. What are you doing, or not doing that has helped that engine last so long?

Rotella T 15-40 in my L2550DT. 5600 hours on it so far and the only thing I have done to the engine is to regularly adjust vales.

It gets an oil change every 100 hours.

Depends on how you use your tractor. Heavy duty off highway CK-4 oil is now the proper oil for off highway. FA-4 is for on-highway trucks. As always there is a spec that is minimum requirement. Beyond that you would need to have access to serious testing to determine how much the oil exceeds the standard. As for manufacturers oil, remember it is in their interest to get you through the warranty period before it explodes so they are not always the best but they will always exceed minimum spec. Deere, CNH, and Cat are really into marketing their oils. Kubota not so much except for Super UDT2, but even Super UDT2 and UDT are not acceptable in the M7 tractors. When I got my M7 I started replacing oil using Super UDT2 used in my other Kubotas. It even says on line to use UDT; however, the book says to use only UDT-HD. I had my dealer confirm - Kubota's response is to drain the mixture of Super UDT2 and factory fill UDT-HD and replace with UDT-HD.

MHarryE--so, is UDT-HT a new product or is that the UDT we already know?

I'm not familiar with the M-7, other than to be on awe of it, but I would presume it's a gear drive transmission with maybe a hi-low shift?

I would not worry about any Mobil1 product, I use regular M1 all my gassers. I have not seen Mobil 1 Diesel where I shop.

I've just always keep up on maintenance. Don't drive it like a hot rod. I try to drive most of the time like I have an egg under my fuel pedal. Some people tell me that I take off like I'm 100 years old. I just tell them that fuel and drive line parts are expensive. Also helps the way truck is set up. 70 mph in 13th gear is only 1400 rpm

I knew it. People give me a hard time because I also take it easy with my equipment. It's used, just not abused. Then they complain when I sell a used vehicle or tractor for a super premium price while they get less than they expected.

Regular maintenance along with use, but not abuse equipment is only common sense, much of which is lacking in today's society.
