Above is the short answer to the original question without all the snipping and sidetracking. QUOTE]

Without all the snipping and sidetracking, this would have been a real short thread.

BTW the Kubota engine in my Bobcat is what sold me on Kubota tractors.

Sorry about the sidetracking, but it was interesting.:ashamed:

for what its worth, Kubota supplies engines to over 500 different companies. They are their own biggest customer, but there are some other meaningful ones like Bobcat, and many refer trucks and other small industrial applications. This is part of why they are so slow to approve things like higher Bio diesel concentrations... because they are also approving the applications of over 500 other companies.

Are you sure, I have a friend who knows a man who has a friend that has a buddy that passed by the Daytona Beach Speedway one day that told him B&S builds the engines.

All joking aside, Kubota tractors are all Kubota. Kubota although a foreign manufacturing company, with its home base in Japan, employs more US workers than a lot of US based manufactures who have outsourced manufacturing jobs to a very large Asian Country.

Kubota Corporation of Japan was established in 1890 and has become an international brand leader with a focus on contributing to society by offering environmentally compatible equipment designed to improve quality of life. Kubota Corporation has subsidiaries and affiliates that manufacture and/or market products that are sold in more than 130 countries.

Kubota Manufacturing of America (KMA) was formed in 1988 as Kubota’s North American manufacturing base. KMA manufactures and assembles Kubota lawn tractors, zero-turn mowers, sub-compact tractors, utility vehicles, loaders, backhoes and other implements. The company employs 1200 workers. Two master buildings offer 616,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Today, approximately one-half of all Kubota branded equipment sold in the United States is manufactured or assembled at its 151-acre Gainesville, Georgia facility.

Kubota Industrial Equipment (KIE) Headquarters: Jefferson, Georgia
was established in 2004 to expand Kubota’s North American Manufacturing base. KIE manufactures tractor implements including loaders and backhoes in their 440,000 square foot facility. In early 2012, construction of a new 460,000 square foot factory was started on KIE’s existing 88 acre site. The new facility will produce compact tractors for the North American market from January 2013.

Kubota is a leading OEM (original equipment manufacturer) of compact diesel and gasoline engines for industrial, agricultural, construction and generator applications. Established in 1999, KEA distributes and markets Kubota-Tough (6 to 99 horsepower), compact, lightweight, turbocharged options, liquid-cooled, low noise and low vibration engines to other top-name manufacturers serving various industrial equipment sectors.

Just as an aside...
I wonder how Yanmar compares to Kubota in numbers of engines produced worldwide?
I would imagine that Mitsubishi is in the mix too...
I know that Yanmar produces a lot of engines for the marine industry...
All three companies produce very good products...

I rent some pretty diverse equipment, but for the last year or so its been CTL's and mini-ex's for the most part. Since the local Kubota dealer started a rental program, I do a lot of business with them. Dang good running engines and strong equipment as well. The dealer has me on speed dial and calls as soon as any new piece of equipment hits their lot to invite me over to run it. In fact, I just got off of the phone with them. I think they've got me hooked!

Thanks for clarifying that. I just checked my belts and was on my way in to do the same.
