Sounds like if it was me I would be making a simple way to connect both handles once you sit down. That or buying one of those silly beer (I mean refreshment) hats with the straws.
Actually, the handles can both be held in one hand (figured that one out pretty quickly after detaching myself from the afore mentioned tree), but in this case, it would not have helped as I was in the process of going around the tree with one handle slightly advanced beyond the other. The releasing of the handle stopped one wheel and taught me how to execute a very nice 90 degree turn..
