Buying Advice Kubota GL4240HST or L4400HST?

Sounds like if it was me I would be making a simple way to connect both handles once you sit down. That or buying one of those silly beer (I mean refreshment) hats with the straws.

Actually, the handles can both be held in one hand (figured that one out pretty quickly after detaching myself from the afore mentioned tree), but in this case, it would not have helped as I was in the process of going around the tree with one handle slightly advanced beyond the other. The releasing of the handle stopped one wheel and taught me how to execute a very nice 90 degree turn..

Your intuition into the grapple ....no one will talk you out of it...combine the two - HST and a grapple and you'll get more done in three hours than you can believe.

Boy you are not kidding. I did more in four hours than I could have done in a year by hand. 4240 + Grapple is amazing.

For those that turn off the auto throttle, personally I think it's the greatest thing
since sliced bread for loader work. You load a 155 bushel spreader about 10-20
times in a day and you'll be glad it's there, why would want to be throttled up
the whole time you're doing loader work. The other brands are so far behind
in technology with the features that the Grand L series has it ain't even funny.

So, what is the consensus - L4240 or L4400? I like the 4400 better, but that's probably because I like my dinosaur of a L4200 so much and have never been a "bell n' whistle" fan - I absolutely hate digital electronic displays, and the less froof there to break the better.

Except for that all important cupholder, of course (I AM going to put one on my machine somewhere).

Yep, I'll agree, simplicity can be a good thing--that's why I too like my L4400HST. Tough and basically bullit proof. Mike.

I have never run a L4400,but own an L4240HSTC,my previous tractor was an
L3130(replaced by the L3240),big step up in size,weight,lift capacity the HST plus is great.The 854 loader is very powerfull.I have a 8ft.Curtis FEL mounted snow plow and many implements.Works very well for me.:thumbsup:

I would love to have the LA854 FEL on the L4400 but alas it will not fit. I like the better rollback angle and Break out force. Every thing has its good and bad.

Digital dash or not there's probably lots of relays and such behind the dash.
My FIL bought the CaseIH 5140 in '91 and ordered the analog dash to avoid
problems but it didn't matter he relay problem after relay until someone finally
got it straightened out. None of them are made like they used to be as far as
simplicity.
