My Kubota GR2110 is slow to start. I get a 12 V power supply to the glow plugs. The manufacturer states that the glow plugs should have an impedance of 0.9 ohms. Mine are about 1.5 ohms. With three glow plugs with this resistance, the voltage on the glow plug rail is 10 V. I suspect that the glow plugs are sucking more power than they should and causing the sluggish starting. Any comments from the experts?

Glow plugs generally are 10.5 volt devices. Some operate at other temperatures. If your glow plugs are reading 1.5 ohms have you taken the resistance of your meter leads into consideration? Consider also that the resistance you measure is the cold resistance. The resistance may actually increase when they heat. Have your battery load tested, it may not be up to the task. Batteries develop internal resistance as they age and will thus drop voltage internally. Clean the battery terminals and the connectors that attach to them. Be sure you have a clean solid ground connection to the frame of the tractor. Your starter will draw far more power than the glow plugs.

Thank you, I had not considered the leads, as they are so short. Turns out they are 0.5 ohms, which means the glow plugs are as per manufacturers spec.
Regards Mark.
