Nice job 4shorts. Do you not need a heat shield on your stack, because it's inside the fel arms? Even if you don't, it still might look cool with one. Get back to work.:thumbsup:
Isn't soot eventually going to get on the cab? I'm not trying to be a downer here but a $2.00 bag of rags takes care of the soot problem. It's a freaking tractor for Pete's sake...do you allow dirt to get on it?

BTW I got the same idea about a stack yesterday as I was looking at a new M135X. They put the stack right at the A pillar of the cab. Check it out on Kubota's website.
Regardless you have done another fantastic job. Guess I'll go the shop and try to get something done myself.
Thanks Matt. Thought about the baby moons but the only ones I seen around here had a dia. of 8.5". The dia of the opening on the weights was 9.75". I could have machined an adapter but had a thought. IF I did that and installed the baby moons they would have been stuck out further than the weight and could be damaged by snow when cutting close to a snow bank as I often do. Doing it the way I did I used 1/8th plate and recessed the cap in the hole to minimize the potential for damage.
Unless the Baby Moons were an exact match for the wheel weight hole, they would look funny with an adapter. You could always take up metal spinning and make your own.
I did ponder using a flap but was worried that the soot could go up and end up everywhere on the machine. Soot is very easy to see on bright orange![]()
Then I thought about the flap it's self and wondered if I would hear the noise in the cab. One thing about the curved stack is that once pointed in the right direction that's the direction the soot is going.
I would guess that the only time one would hear the rain cap is when the machine is idling. As for the soot with a rain cap, your guess is as good as mine. Around here I see guys put 5-gallon buckets over the exhaust stacks without curves or rain caps on them when they are not being used.
Very Cool!! Very tallented !! Rags might be easier, but where's the fun in that.
