Nice job 4shorts. Do you not need a heat shield on your stack, because it's inside the fel arms? Even if you don't, it still might look cool with one. Get back to work.:thumbsup:

BTW I got the same idea about a stack yesterday as I was looking at a new M135X. They put the stack right at the A pillar of the cab. Check it out on Kubota's website.

Isn't soot eventually going to get on the cab? I'm not trying to be a downer here but a $2.00 bag of rags takes care of the soot problem. It's a freaking tractor for Pete's sake...do you allow dirt to get on it?

NO!

No heat shield needed. it really don't get that hotplus it's about two inches away from the FEL arm. I think you'll find that most stacks that have the heat shields are because the stack it's self is a muffler as well. That's the way it was in the ones I've seen up to this point. No one is going to need to grab on to the stack anyway considering where it is. Got to go to work :D

Didn't want to go that way. The cab on the Grand L's are on rubber with a fair bit of cab movement plus it would have meant adding attachments to the cab. Doing it the way I have I only used the existing mounting hols on the FEL.

Regardless you have done another fantastic job. Guess I'll go the shop and try to get something done myself.

Thanks Matt. Thought about the baby moons but the only ones I seen around here had a dia. of 8.5". The dia of the opening on the weights was 9.75". I could have machined an adapter but had a thought. IF I did that and installed the baby moons they would have been stuck out further than the weight and could be damaged by snow when cutting close to a snow bank as I often do. Doing it the way I did I used 1/8th plate and recessed the cap in the hole to minimize the potential for damage.

Unless the Baby Moons were an exact match for the wheel weight hole, they would look funny with an adapter. You could always take up metal spinning and make your own. :D

I did ponder using a flap but was worried that the soot could go up and end up everywhere on the machine. Soot is very easy to see on bright orange
Then I thought about the flap it's self and wondered if I would hear the noise in the cab. One thing about the curved stack is that once pointed in the right direction that's the direction the soot is going. :D

I would guess that the only time one would hear the rain cap is when the machine is idling. As for the soot with a rain cap, your guess is as good as mine. Around here I see guys put 5-gallon buckets over the exhaust stacks without curves or rain caps on them when they are not being used.

Thanks. I tried going the rag route with my first tractor and it wasn't pleasant. The soot got into places that was hard to clean. I had to be cleaning it every second day and got tired of doing it. I realize tractors get dirty but I use mine exclusively for snow clearing and enjoy keeping it clean. Glad you like my project. :)

Matt water getting in the exhaust won't be a problem. If you look at the photos again you'll see I took that into consideration and added a drainage tube to the stack adapter. As soon as the water gets in it runs out.

Like the stack, my loader has soot all over it but its more the diesel fumes blowing back into the cab that bothers me.
