Kubota Grand L5030 question

( That's what I'm concerned about. If it is taking air in at 100 from outside and only cools it 7 degrees to 93 inside or 14 degrees to 86, then that's not going to be cool enough. )

The dryness of the air is very important when it comes to the perception of cooling. Temp may drop 14 "only" degrees, but moisture content is what really matters. Dry air=cool air.

Mine cools great even when temps are at 100+, unless I am in and out of the cab a lot.

?? I think you missed his point! THAT only happens in the very BEGINNING! ( Or I might add...if the AC unit has a "circulate" setup on it..where it is constantly moving air THRU the cab and back outside) It STARTS taking in the warm outside air...and as it runs its taking in "cooler and cooler air" from inside the cab itself. Thusly at some point its taking in..say ...75 degree air ( from the CAB....NOT from the outside) and cooling THAT air down 8 to 14 degrees. Hence..the more you run it..the cooler and cooler it gets inside. ( To some point...)

There is one thing that I did to my 5030 that did seem to make a difference. That is when I was installing my CD/MP3 player and had the roof off, I unstalled that aluminum foil looking bubble wrap insulating stuff to the under side of the roof. That made it go from being sufficient on hot days to making it able to get too cold on long runs on even the hottest days. It was over 95 degrees and very humid when I was running a brush cutter for about 6 hours one day last year and I actually got cold and had to turn the A/C down a bit. I already had the fan speed on low, I'm talking about raising the temp control lever off of the coldest setting.

I guess it does baffle me why Kubota doesn't spend an extra $2 to insulate the under side of the roof. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Maybe JD does that from the factory. It sure would make sense to me. If you do own a 5030, I would suggest spending the few bucks it takes to insulate the roof. It took me all of about 1/2 an hour to do it and the most expensive part of it was buying the 3M automotive spray adhesive to stick the insulation to the roof, and that was about $5 or so.

The 14 degree temp diff I was talking about was using the inside air temp as the input, not the outside. Does the Kubota a/c unit always pull outside air? I would think it would recycle some of the inside air thru the a/c to further cool it, just like your house system works.
