Can anyone recommend a good hydraulic pressure gauge tester? I want to check my pressure, and went to Northern tools, but it looks like you have to make your own there out of parts.

Depending on your tractor and which outlets you have will determine what coupler you need. It is no big deal to piece one together.

As Delphi said, they are easy to make.
I bought a 1/2" male Ag quick disconnect and a 3000 psi guage from Discount Hydraulics to make a test guage. It will plug into the rear remotes or FEL QD's. Or I can use it with a short hose with a female QD on one end and whatever fitting I need on the other end for the test port of interest.
Dis. Hydraulics has a Product Menu on the left. Guages are under Misc. and QD's are listed.

I do NOT mean to be a smart ***** or negative in any way... but it is easy to forget that for those of us who do not know or understanding something, that "something" can be/is a big deal. Particle/Wave Duality may be a mystery until one studies quantum physics. But one isn't going to understand it until some takes the time to explain it. It is all a matter of knowledge for a big deal to become no big deal. So, educate us for whom it is a big deal, please.

Oh OK. I just was not sure which type of gauge to get, since some had fluid in them, others did not. Then I was worried about the length of hose, adapter etc.

Here is the gauge, I think it will work, it goes to 5000 (I have a b2920, nowhere near that amount).

Valley Instrument Hydraulic Pressure Gauge — Liquid Filled, 5000 PSI | Filled Gauges | Northern Tool + Equipment

I will add a long hose, since it looks like to test the hydrostat transmission, I have to go under the tractor to reach the ports. FEL and rear seem easy enough to get to.

Thanks!

That guage will work fine. Most tractors I have seen are around 2000 to 2500 psi. The fluid is a dampening agent so if the pressure was spikey you see the average reading rather than a jittery needle.

BXpanded make a great hydraulic pressure test kit Hydraulic Pressure Testers with the shims needed if your pressure is low.

Wait, didn't I read that deadheading a line for any purpose can be REAL BAD and that your suppose to ad a T in the line ?

I guess I should ad that one needs to be careful where one tests there pressure from. I do believe
that if you undo a hose BEFORE a valve that has a pressure relief and thow on a deadhead it can
blow a HeidiKlumHusband or do worse.

You bring up an important point. Your thinking is correct as far as considering a pressure tester a dead head. But if you place a tester on a hose connection line that normally will drive a cylinder remember that the cylinder also acts as a dead head when it reaches a stop. So this line should have a pressure relief valve somewhere in it. If you know you have a pressure relief valve, one way to check your max system pressure is to dead head a cylinder line with a guage to read where the relief valve opens. You could also adjust the relief valve pressure setting . You would not want to dead head a pump outlet that is not protected by a relief valve.
If you want to measure the operating pressure of a line you have to tee your guage into the pressure line so it can see the actul pressure being applied to the equipment as it operates and this would normally be below the relief valve setting until a stop is reached.
Hope this helps.

Geez, I really am not sure now!

I think I am going to leave it alone, or maybe order the Kubota one and just follow the WSM instructions.
