Comparison Kubota L3200 vs. John Deere 3032E

   / Kubota L3200 vs. John Deere 3032E #11
We have a mix of pedal layouts on different products, but I personally find it really unnatural to push forward to go backwards. I just does not feel right to me.

It's really unnatural to me to have your hydrostatic pedals and brakes on the same side so you cannot feather into a ditch or comfortable use the breaks to turn. It would be like having the breaks and clutch on the same side of the tractor... but hey, to each their own:)

yes, that's what I was saying, I read about a lot of people that complain about the jerky 3ph on the Kubota, but mine (i assume all?) has an adjustment knob in front, just above the floorboard, to adjust the 3ph lowering speed, and I adjusted with it and it will slow it down as much as you want it to. I use a JD 272 finish mower, pretty heavy, and it dropped it too fast at first, until I adjusted the knob in a couple of turns, now even if I just push the 3ph lower lever forward all at once, it will lower at the right speed, you can make it slow enough that you have to wait on it if you want it that slow. Jerky 3ph is not an issue if it is adjusted properly.

Thats where the cruise control lever comes in, if you are mowing, tilling, etc at a certain speed, and lock the cruise in, your right foot is free to use the wheel brakes for turning, etc.
The JD didn't have the cruise feature.

That knob only controls the speed down. Up remains constant and up is where you will see the jerkiness, if you have it. The knob has been tested and does not fix the problem.

I've never used brakes to turn like that. Making a turn I always slow down. You can't control speed and brake turns at the same direction. Also I've NEVER used break turning with cruise control on, just dangerous to me because if I'm going to fast and that thing starts to feel tippy, I have no way to immediately slow it down. This includes always having my foot on the clutch of a gear tractor as well. Oh, and the 3032e does have an optional cruise control. But again, to each their own:)

That would feel pretty unnatural to me also... counterintuitive, but I guess one could get used to it.

A godawful lot of folks that don't own Kubotas seem to be experts on the jerky 3PH issue. I wonder where this wealth of knowledge was obtained, because every Kubota dealer I have spoken to looked at me like I have three heads when I ask about it. To a man, they said they have never received a complaint about it on the newer L series.

And BTW, congrats to the OP on the new machine.. I'm sure it will serve you well!

Since your talking to me and Murph, by reading these forums. I knew nothing of the matter 12 months ago. I've seen a whole lot of complaints from owners on this forum regarding the standard L 3ph and I'm only spreading the word to help fellow members. It's not something that will kill anyone, but it's something to look at when buying, the only reason I mention it.

PS: Not trying to start an argument, just playing devils advocate, but do you find it counterintuitive to drive a car in reverse?

Yep. I don't buy the economy tractors, just personal preference, so I never looked into them. But I do like tractors in general. What I've learned on this forum is that the std. L is a great tractor, except that the 3ph can sometimes be a PITA, I'm just trying to help.

Well, since you took offense to my post, and I see you don't have the Kubota model listed in your ownership, I guess you're one of the people I'm talking about. I only add my thoughts when I have first hand knowledge of the subject, so as not to confuse the issue at hand with so much computer "noise." Hence, I don't post in the JD area about their problems with aluminum transaxles, don't post in the Kioti forum about their twisted loaders, etc., because I have no knowledge of the subject.
It's hard enough for people to get reliable information on the internet. One must seperate the wheat from the chaff, and folks must wade through tons of chaff to find one tiny kernel of wheat, so, I post when I think I can be of help with factual information from my point of view. It's up to an individual to ascertain if it's of any value or not. It all adds up to the internet's very poor signal/noise ratio, and I don't wish to add to the clutter. As for you anology, I don't think it applies, because forward or reverse, all the controls in my truck are in the same place. But, I much prefer forward to reverse, particularly if I'm traveling long distances on the highway at high speeds.
