Kubota L3430 GST Hydraulics

What burns me is that this bulletin came out in December of 2004 and I got the tractor around April of 2005 with the backhoe mounted from dealer.

This is part of the mindset in Japan, they never admit problems......look what they did with the nuclear plants.

Yes, because the same people who make decisions about nuclear power plants also decide when and what types of bulletins to release for Kubota tractors......it's all because they have an emperor you know. You must have had a bad experince with Kubota (or japense in general) to make such a comment about and entire population. To tell the truth, it's racist.

Ok so lets get back on topic ,doesn't matter where it was made I was talking to a man in Georgia with a very pronounced southern accent, I bought it here and it gets serviced here I just got off the Phone with Mr Brown At kubota headquarters in Swannee GA , spent 30 minutes discussing it with him , he stated that the rep did take care of the customer by offering to pay parts and that was as far as they could go , he also stated I was being unreasonable ( his opinion) and that if I didn't want it and was going to post it on tractorbynet I should pay the whole bill or post the whole bill , ( so in his statement and defense the parts are probably 2/3 of the cost and labor another 1/3 rd , its costing me 350.00 so do the math ,) , I told him I would take what I could get and we would agree to disagree and that I thought it was very lame that this design flaw which no one was notified about was costing me money at this point , I mean how many tractors would they sell if they said , hey you cant dig with the front end pointed downhill , c'mon paint it bright pink if that's the case

at the end of the day my intention is to let the rest of you know about this issue and not find out the hard way like I did , its been very frustrating with my tractor in the shop now for a week and a half , my yard tore up and that this was a known issue that could have been prevented ,

I'm not going to yell , cuss or badmouth Kubota, I am going to become a informed customer and hope all other owners reading this do also , maybe just get your serial #'s and head down and have them look up all bulletins on all your equipment and maybe prevent a few things from happening ,

thanks for looking

I do thank Mr brown for taking the time out to call me back and at least hear me out

Well they tried, sorry you did not get all that you wanted. I hope you have no more failures and the unit runs great from now on. Good luck.

As I read this, I got a sinking feeling that my L3130 may have this issue and I mow backing up some steep hills. I completely forgot that my tractor is 2007 model and should have the change from the factory... I went out and checked and my tractor has the kit already (what a relief!).

Hope it all works out for you..

One thought that came to mind when you asked about when the bulletins would be checked for, when the tractor was serviced and you had had it in for service several times.. seems the dealer should cover anything beyond the kit if they should have told you about the bulletin when you had the tractor serviced. Of course, nothing forces the dealer to check bulletins, but they are often money makers for the service dept.

No where near, go look at their other engineering screwups.

Economy L series 3PT is a good start
BX floorboards...they finally admitted that one
GR2100 transaxle.......their on the 3rd series now

In this case Kubota screwed up in intial design, once problem was found out they did a running change and oh by the way we will do a notice to the dealers but we will not be sending repair kits out to dealers for units in stock to repair. Why????? MONEY

Other defects that would get more attention because it is a cosmetic issue that gets attention like broken floorboards and everybody gets repair kits.

The dealer gets this notice and stashes it away and then I get an L3140GST with backhoe 5 months after notice is sent to dealers without a word of warning.
it takes several failures out here for people to track down the hidden bulletin and find out the problem with little help from Kubota. Go to dealer and tell them about it...oh we never heard......real good system.....never want to get stuck with stock that has defects.

So as Kubota says it I am wrong because I bought their tractor with a backhoe attached and I live on a hill.....you dig up or down sometimes you do not have a choice.

In this case maybe the customer is wrong.....in choosing Kubota.

There offer of parts is half hearted at best becuse I do my own work......it is nice to get a tractor with half the fittings greased after PDI from dealer.

Okey Dokey..........you are right.........your dealer is a screw up and all of Kubota is in a conspiracy to screw the customer. "Admit no mistakes, always save face" is what they have tattooed across their chest. Man, I am glad you helped me find the truth.

Put it this way when was the last time Kubota did something to be nice.......time after time they always make you take it in for waranty even if they give you the parts for free and make you have it fixed at the dealer and he wins every time on labor. Why should I pay dealer labor rates when I can do the work cheaper and often times better and make sure it is done right the first time.
I buy Kubota for a quality product and expect one without huge defects capable of having a major failure, if I wanted an oversized network to deal with I would be over on the Green side.

And I would take Mr Browns threat and make sure there was a good deal of sales lost from there poor design and his less than satisfactory attitude (remember if this many customers are wrong then maybe we need to change brands) and make sure every customer had his dealer run the SERIAL NUMBER of tractor for outstanding DEFECTS before sale was COMPLETED.

Like I said, you are right....I am now a true believer. You should sell all your stuff and go green.

It sounds to me like most of the issue here is with your dealer. Kubota did "admit" to the issue and notified their dealers in 2004, which is the proper path for such a notice. Your dealer ignored it, or forgot about it, or whatever, and happily sold you a tractor configured to encounter this problem AFTER they were notified about the issue. If they were on the ball they would have performed the upgrade prior to delivery and received full reimbursement from Kubota at that time.

Here we are 7 years later, Kubota has kicked in the parts, but what has the dealer done? Nothing. I'd be asking them to pick up the labor since they sold you a tractor with a known defect and you have documentation that they were notified about it several months before they sold you the tractor. Kubota should be kicking their *** too for not paying attention.
