How many hours?

How long have you owned/operated it?

When did it last work OK?

It would be helpful to others to note where you are located (update your user info).

Good suggestions... I have updated my profile except for the hours.. will complete that tomorrow. I have owned the L35 for 10 years now. Bought it used with 700 hours on it. She has been parked for a year where she last stopped. The problem did not come on all of a sudden; got gradually worse over time. Weather seems to have something to do with it. She tended to work ok in warm weather after warming up. As the problem progressed, she will not move at all in the cold winter. Was too busy to tend to her this past summer so don't know if the warm weather phenomenon still applies. I live at 6500 feet and so it gets really cold in the winter. Best i can tell there is one pump for the transmission and steering.. those are the two functions that do not work. Loader and Backhoe work fine. Just drained and replaced the hydraulic oil with premium oil from Tractor Supply.

Thanks,
Ed

Sounds like it could be the screen in the trans or hyd filter. Also check flow from pump and pressure.

I tend to agree with Leejohn. Cold fluid is harder to flow and a restriction will only make this worse. A filter change is probably the lowest-hanging-fruit to go after.

I believe the gst on the l35 gets its control hydrulics from the power steering pump, if I remeber correctly the ps pump has a common suction line with one of the implements pumps. I would start doing pressure test on the ps circuit. Sounds like either a bad pump or maybe a problem with the flow divider.

Usually some where between the power steering pump section, steering and transmission valves their is a regulator valve for the GST pressure, but since steering is not working go upstream from there but foam would indicate a suction leak.

PROBLEM SOLVED! I wish to extend my sincere thanks to Tags, DieselBound, Leejohn, TMGT & David_Kb7uns for very helpful inputs. Problem turned out to be air getting into the suction line (hence the many micro air bubbles in the hydrology oil). The culprit was 3 small lengths of old hose in the suction line. When I replaced those with new hose & new hose clamps, everything turned up roses. Kubota L35 Suction Line.jpg

Thanks again and Happy New Year!
