Just a quick update. I hauled the boat down to my beach and launched it with the tow ball mount on the backhoe bucket. It works just like I planned, one gets lucky every now and then. I can now back into the water with the larger rear tires in deeper water, leaving the front tires on dry land, and launch the boat. I haven't had much time to play with it but my initial feeling is with the back hoe mounted ball on the extendable boom, the manuverabilty of the boat trailer might actually be improved over the FEL mount. The ability to swing the boom and trailer tongue side to side or boom in or out is a whole new concept that will require a leaning curve to master. Now to be honest, I've been backing trailers up for probably 60 years so backing a trailer is second nature and more natural for me. The FEL mount is highly maneuverable I'm just more use to handling a rear mounted trailer. Another consideration that "might" come into play is my L35 TLB model is a heavy duty, fully framed backhoe that's designed and balanced for a backhoe boom. There is no feeling of instability, swinging or booming in or out without having the outriggers deployed. I have never operated a three point hitch backhoe attachment so I have no idea if that may or may not make a difference in stability. Anyway, it looks like the system will work just fine and now I can use either end of my tractor to haul or position trailers. Thanks to all for your comments and suggestions.
