Most likely you have a bad switch. Did you change the inner and outer elements?

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. There is a small sensor screwed into the air filter housing. The replacement is under $20 and it only takes a few minutes to swap it out.
In 500+ hours and 6 years that sensor and 2 tire tubes are the only parts I've replaced, (other than fluid and filters).
