I have just taken up the responsibility of maintaining my in-laws tractor (a L3710) w/very limited knowledge of tractors and no manual to be found, its been a slow start! I found many answers so far on this site, but the one issue I cant seem to get an answer on is warning light descriptions. I have a yellow light on in the middle of the light display w/has a bulb w/an arrow pointing into it. I was thinking it was hydrolic fluid indicator since I just changed out the 4 hydrolic lines on the loader, but I'm not sure. Also, I hate to say it but I cant find the hydrolic fluid cap to even check the level. Any help would be appreciated and if someone could direct me to a good deal on a manual (dealer wanted $150!) that would be great also!

after making a few phone calls and going out to a dealer, I have found that the fill cap is directly above the PTO shaft and there is a glass fill indicator below and to the left of the fill cap (was covered in grease). The fill indicator was about a quarter inch from the top and 2 gallons of super UDT aka "liquid gold" later its still about 1/8" from the top. I was worried about overfilling so I've been going real slow at it. Kinda strange that it hasn't moved much even after 2 gallons, any advice? The hydraulic fluid indicator light is still on, but I was worried that the level has not changed much even after that much fluid, so I quit to check around before going any further.

I know on my tractor if I put a little UDT in there the levels go up plain as day. If yours isn't, well, I wonder where it's goin'.

well now I'm nervous! after running it the fill indicator was completely filled and I could see the new "super udt" mixing w/the older stuff in the glass (the older stuff was a little more clear than the super). I let it sit for an hour and the level indicator is back to where it was about an 1/8" from the top? can it do much damage if its overfilled but just not showing?

Warning Lights from left to right. Pigs tail is your glow plug, then your parking brake, air cleaner, battery and oil pressure. Sounds like you need a new air cleaner. Located in the front of the hood above the battery. Two components. Cleaning might work but if you change them you will know they are new.
The tranmission and the hydraulics are served by the same oil. 39 litres or 41.2 U S quarts. On a level surface if the oil is visible in the glass window you should be OK. Half way up the window should be ideal. Yes you can get to much hydraulic oil in the unit.

Also don't worry about mixing oils, they will be fine. How many hours on the machine and do you know when the last filter change was done?

393 hrs...and I'm not sure about the last change

At 400 hrs it is ready for new engine and hydraulic oil plus filters based on Kubota's owners manual maintenance schedule. As you have learned, the Super UDT oil and Kubota filters do hit the pocket book. The plus side is how long these tractors last and how well they hold their value. It is worth doing.

Just a guess here, with less than 400 hrs and you had to add 2 gallons of Super UDT I am thinking there might be a leak somewhere and/or that it was not serviced at 200 hrs as scheduled. Also, Super UDT is really pricey and if you don't live in a real cold weather climate Kubota approves regular UDT.

I was asked by the owner specifically to use the super (even though were in florida) he was told by someone he trust to use the super for some reason or another so thats what I did...I saw some post about using off brands w/an STP additive but that idea was nixed, so went w/the super. When I started this project the 4 factory hydraulic lines at the loader were all split and a few were leaking pretty bad, so I replaced those and thats why I thought the light was for low hydraulic fluid. Truly, I now think, the hydrolic fluid was probably just fine and it was just the air cleaner all along. Now I'm worried it might be overfilled since I added so much w/o seeing the level really change. I still see a line in the glass and the tractor does take 10 gallons of UDT fluid, but nonetheless, I'm a little worried.

Sounds like an owners manual would go a long way in helping you out. That should be relatively inexpensive or even free from the dealer.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. I have a 3710 with 1600 hours on it. I bought it new and it has been bullet proof. I use regular old multiviscosity tractor oil in it, but I do store it in a heated shop in the winter. NB: if you use hyd implements with your tractor, they are exchanging "bodily fluids" anyway, so using "liquid gold" is only putting $$$$$$$$ in your dealer's pocket.

Do keep the oil level in the window (tractor level). I keep mine at 1/8 below top, because I am often on a slope where none is showing. Also, understand that hyd implements will require oil. For example if you are using a splitter, the cylinder all the way out will change the oil level from all the way in. Loader too. Check oil with FEL down and curled.

The air cleaner sensor can go bad and give off a false sign. Mine went last out winter. I knew it was bad because I had just changed both air flters and it was still on. I pulled it apart and "fixed/cleaned" it and all was fine. I replaced it anyway. Takes a LOT of dust and trash to plug a filter so bad as to trigger the sensor.

Tractor will run a lot better with clean air filters though, I can tell you that!

Check your front axel fluid level. The front wheels and bearings NEED that oil. Also, keep your radiator clean, use compressed air or if you have to, hose it down with the tractor running..... but keep it clean.

Regular filters, oil, grease and that tractor will out live the next several owners.

thanks to everyone for the responses and I'll def. try and take your advise on the cheaper UDT oil when I drain and replace the UDT and filters next time...prob. at 500 hrs. I did check the air filter and it was fairly clean, not bad at all so I hit it w/some compressed air and put it back on (the interior filter was clean as a whistle). I will put it through the ringer tomorrow and see how she handles after a long days work, but I'm fairly sure the level was just low from the leaking hoses at the loader and the 2 gallon fill is prob. not too much (at least per the fill sight). Thanks again for the input...and the dealer wanted $150 for the manual, so I think I'll try and get one on ebay for a little less.

Agree with DeadHorse's reply 100%. Was typing the same thing, but he did it quicker!

pavos12 - Messicks lists an owners manual for a L3710 for $24.43 plus shipping. Kubota PN#TA140-19715

thanks, I'll order that right now! also, since everyone has been so great to respond, any suggestions on a bush hog for me? right now I have a cyclone RD6 finish deck and just need something that can cut bushes and at the same time give a finish look to tall bahia grass. Thanks. And after an 8 hour cut the tractor seemed to be running great, broke a belt on the finish deck, but other than that everything seemed in order.
