Kubota L39
Hi Guys,

I'm new to this but am looking for some help please,
I purchased a used L39 tlb and the hydraulics on the front bucket are wrong, if you push the stick right the bucket curls and if you push left it dumps. I took it to my local workshop and the mechanic tried changing the hydraulic hoses around but can not get it right. I have had some quick detach pallet forks made for loading trucks with pallets of fruit but cannot use the self leveling function.
If anyone can give me some help it would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you
Kind Regards,
Mark.

Mark - what do you want the joy stick to do? On my Kubota M6040 - stick right/left is bucket curl/ bucket dump. Stick forward/back - raises/lowers the FEL.

I can not speak to the self leveling feature - my tractor does not have that.

Hi oosik, thanks for the quick response, I would like; stick left bucket curl, stick right bucket dump and Stick forward/back - raises/lowers the FEL
in other words swap the right and left function around.

It should be relatively easy - ha,ha - so the man in Ea WA state says. There are two hydraulic cylinders that affect curl/dump. There are two hydraulic cylinders that affect raise/lower of the FEL. We are not concerned about the two that raise/lower the FEL.

On each of the two cylinders that affect the curl/dump there are two hydraulic hoses on each cylinder. One at the top of the cylinder - the other at the bottom of the cylinder. Reverse these two hoses - ON EACH CYLINDER. The top hose now goes to the bottom - the bottom hose goes to the top. This should do what you want.

Thanks so much oosik, i will give it a go and let you know!!!

Mark - I just woke up here - so I'm still a tad slow. The hoses on the curl/dump cylinders may not be long enough to allow you to reverse them. Just be very careful if you do reverse them. Be sure that there is adequate length of hose to allow for full movement without binding or pulling.

I'm not being a smart a** here but the easy answer is - learn to live with it, the way it is.

Can you not switch the hoses before they get to the cylinders? Don't they join a Tee on the main hoses from valve or change them on the control valve?

Hold on. What happens if that Kubota L39 TLB is more complicated hydraulically than the simple 4 cylinder loaders on my old farm tractor?

I sure wouldn't let a mechanic mess with changing hoses around on our Kubota TLB. It might be possible, but doesn't it make sense to understand more about the way the loader is plumbed. The TLBs don't have simple two hose pressure & return lines like removeable loaders. These TLB loaders are a non-removeable part of the tractor. If it has self-leveling does it also have regeneration on the curl/dump?

I think that checking in the L39 workshop manual is the first step. Those Kubota workshop manuals are good. Espcially on hydraulics. The Kubota workshop manual on our Kubota TLB goes into a lot of detail on the hydraulic flow to the loader. Check the schematic for self-leveling & a regeneration circuit on the curl/dump before swapping any hoses. You could make a big $$ mistake there.

None of this would stop me from changing things, so I'm with you there. I'm a lefty, and it's a rare day that I don't think about what it would take to change controls - on everything. Custom hoses are cheap to have built at any hydraulic shop (about $50.00 ea). But first I'd want to study the hydraulic schematic of the flow in the workshop manual, That would answer questions about regeneration and how the self-leveling works. Doesn't it makes sense to understand how it all works together before changing anything?

When you engage the leveling function lever what does it do? Handy feature on my M59 for doing pallet fork operations. Many tractors have some anti spill back feature on bucket when raising. Some TLB have a lever to select a FEL mode to automatically to control the tilt/curl function to keep the same plane when raising and lowering.
My B26 has anti spill back but no auto level. M59 has no anti spill back but has auto level option.
Think the L39 is the same as the M59. Don’t know if you can have both anti spill back and auto level on the same FEL?

You going by the WSM for hydraulic line routing? Think you would be swapping two connections at your valve block to reverse your tilt/curl function.

Previous owner butchered in a 3rd function valve?

Hi Smokeydog, thanks for the reply.
when I engage the self leveling function it curls a bit instead of dumping a bit. I tried oosik's suggestion of swapping the hoses on the cylinders but it made the bucket dump both when you pushed the stick left and right😩 so I put them back. I live in rural south africa and my mechanic is pretty good with all hydraulics . he couldn't get it right either. I bought the machine second hand and it didn't have the manual. I will have a look online to find one and maybe come right.
other than the reversed curl and dump I am over the moon with the performance of this little machine.
