I still cannot find what the Medium duty grapple is at Markham, I'll email and ask for reply then post a link. Is it just the LD with extra tines welded in?

It's a "custom" build, they will add 1/2" sides and extra spacer tines at your request. You need to call them-tell Mellisa what you want and she will give you a price.

I am not certain but recall it might simply be the same design constructed with half inch rather than 3/8 inch steel plate.

I am new to this forum and have been following this thread as I needed a grapple as well. I looked at and priced many manufactorers products. Most of them look great. However the best deal that i could find was this grapple.
66" Single Cylinder Brush Grapple Attachment

I called and spoke to Mark. He gave me very thourough feed back.

I ordered it. It showed up when expected and I have used it. It works very well. All fittings are heavy duty and greasable with protected zerks. The paint is good and it feels very sturdy while im using it. I have moved some oak logs, big stumps, and brush piles. I am using it on a Kubota L5030 with an 853 FEL and a BH90 backhoe.

Looks nice. A bit unusual to have the top grapple so wide but that might be useful with loose brush though it might not work so well picking up rocks. I cannot see clearly on the website but it appears that there is little support for the top tines. I'd be careful grabbing rocks as you may splay the top tines unless they are reinforced with gussets.

My place it not very rocky at all. its a combo of sandy loam fields and a few acres of trees. Also I have a thumb on my backhoe if I run into a nasty rock. The Grapple does work very well with brush and logs and at $949 with 1/2 in tines was a good deal. I was concerned about thinner tines on a 50 hp tractor.

It was suppose to be here Mon. but I got a phone call from the truck driver today. I was going to hook the forks to the L39 & use them to unload the grapple. My stuff was stacked on top of a 10' to 12' wooded crate in the middle of the truck, his pallet jack wouldn't move it. The driver couldn't get to the back of the truck for me to hook up. Said he would get a fork lift at one of his other stops to get my stuff down so it could be moved to the back of the truck. I called & he's on his way back to Baltimore, couldn't get a lift or the other places were closed. I had my hands right on it & still won't get it till Mon. It looks very stout, I think I'm really going to like it. Sad I was that close to using it this weekend & now have to wait, what a bummer.

Same thing happened to me but I didn't let him leave. I had the driver back up to the big oak in my yard and I chained the pallet to the tree and had him pull the truck up nice and easy. This brought the pallet right to the edge of the truck. For future try this method, less work for you and the driver.

BTW I absolutely love my grapple. I purchased the markham ld48 reinforced with beefier steel and extra spacers. I probably didnt need to beef it up but I figured what the heck. good luck with your grapple!
