Hi all. I just pulled the trigger on a new L3901. I'm wondering if I should have an additional front and rear remote installed. I'm getting a FEL installed at the dealership. Theoretically if I were to want operate a woodsplitter one day couldn't I unhook from the loader and hook to the splitter... or is it just worth getting it installed right now? Love to hear your thoughts.

Answer is yes you can use the fel control. I would say use the bucket curl, dump function so you could still raise and lower the loader so you can move about. As far as adding remotes look at orange tractor .com there is any amount of info the L series and remotes.

If money is no problem.... it's the clean fitting way to go. Have you priced it out?

As for the wood splitter, you might be a little disappointed with the speed, less than 8 GPM. It can be done, just slower.

teg and Sammy thanks! I just priced out the kits for the third function up front.... $875 I think dealer quoted me at $1000... more than worth it to have it done now at dealership.... imo. I watched a three series video on the instalation of one of the after market kits.... I do believe its in my skill set to install it... I may just have rear remotes put on at dealership instead of front third option. I have a question. How many remotes should I get on rear? For instance... If a snow blower has a shute control and a deflector control... will I need a total of two (four houses). I know dumb question! This is my first tractor! Please help me anticipate.

Not dumb at all, and no mater how many you get, you'll want more.... I put in three valves, grapple, hydraulic top link and side link. I could use one to angle the blade... guess I'm getting lazy getting on and off the tractor. I did it myself but it looks like it  It works, I don't care...

Three would be the magic number, I think. You could use the third for a plow angle or grapple on the front, and the first two for top-n-tilt cylinders at the rear. Not quite as handy as a third function on the loader joystick, but otherwise very workable. But, for a little more money and fabricating skills, you could have a first class set up like Mysfyt. Depends on what you will be doing, as always.

Yes you could. You couldn't use the bucket dump circuit though, you'd have to use the lift circuit. Search around here for "regen" for more info. Economy Kubotas like ours only have regen dump, not a normal dump.

You can buy an 110V electric Riobi or other brand splitter at HD or Lowe's for <$250. Load the billets in your FEL, bring them home, then split in the driveway.

Faster 220V electric splitters are also available, if you have 220 volts available, but not at Big Box stores.
