Kubota L4200 and loader

I am looking at an L4200 with 4wd and GST. It does not have a loader. I didn't think I wanted one, but having used a borrowed tractor with loader I see that it would really be a plus.

I have a lead on a used loader for a really good price. Haven't seen it yet, but it supposedly was on a MF and the guy that knows of it says it can be fitted to the L4200. He said it may be possible to use the existing mounting brackets and if not brackets could be fabricated to make it work.

The tractor has rear hydraulics. I know I need the joystick. What else should I be looking at on the loader to know if it will work? I know little about the loaders other than the knowledge I have gained while using the one on the borrowed tractor.

Unless you want to fabricate your own brackets or you are getting the loader for next to nothing, I would suggest a new aftermarket (Woods/Alo/Bush Hog) loader that is designed for the tractor.

But I understand about money or lack of it........

As far as what to look for, be sure the Massey valve is an open center valve - meaning in neutral the pump flow continues on downstream to the top cover / hitch. Likely it is but see if you can determine that.

The L4200 is a GREAT little tractor. I have one...
The loader that came on it is a LA680. If you are getting a good deal on the tractor, buy it and you may come across a loader and mounting frame that will bolt right on...
I know Woods and a few others have loaders that were made for the L4200.

Like Yankee Clipper said you will need an open center valve. KennyV
