Tractor Sizing Kubota L4600, L3240, L3940

$26,000 with loader and rear remote. Traded in 2001 Agco ST30 in average condition and gave them $19,000 difference. I think I got a fair deal. Mahindra 5010 they wanted $21,500 difference at different dealer. Kubota is probably a better tractor.

I was priced $17,800 for 4600, top and front bumper. I want to say for tractor, loader and top was 23,500 and a mx 5100 with top and loader were 25,500. Now, all my prices are with gear trans.

New Guy here. Have a Kubota L4600 being delivered on Tuesday. Getting the RCF2072 rotary cutter and the GS 1572 Grader. I went for the AG tires because I have a lot of sloping areas. The dealer suggests I have him put "Beet Juice" in the rear wheels. Any opinion on this?

Beet juice is a great ballast for your tires. My dealer only handles windshield washer fluid, but if I could have found someone who did beet juice, I would have gone with it.

That is the downside to it, very expensive, but if you do a search on here, you will find a lot of satisfied owners using it. I have to have flats fixed in the field and none of the tire services around here handle it, so it was WWF for me. I have considered weights, but that is even more expensive.

I'm going to be moving a lot of two inch rock so thought it was in need of some weight. I had the wheels moved out wider as well. It should do the job. Been told by the dealer the 50 hour service is going to be around $350.

I've moved a LOT of 2" rock and weight really helps, I've even moved quite a few truck loads of 6" minus.

There really isn't much to the 50 hour service, we do our own, most recently on our L5740; not much to it and I certainly wouldn't want to pay that much.

FYI... thats never been an issue on this series. Thats L2800-3400-3200-3800. They are a totally different tractor. The L4400 - L4600 are derived from the older Grand L-30 series. Its basicly a grand L30 w/o rubber floor mats.

That said, unless you need the HP the L3940 is a much more feature rich tractor.

My L-4400 has a jerky 3PH. I think I'm the only one though :laughing: I don't notice it with general implement use, but heavy loads such as a carry all full of wood, its bouncy. My rake, BB or mower are not generally raised slowly for small increments so I don't notice it.

Thanks so much for the replies and great info! I have decided against the 4600. It is more tractor than I stated out to look for and I can't get past the made in Thailand thing. I wanted a grand l and think I will regret not getting one. For my personal comparisons, the 3240 compares to the Ford 2000 and the 3940 is close to the Ford3000. There is next to no difference between the 3240 and 3940 other than hydraulic pump flow and HP. From what I have learned here, the dealer gave good prices on these two tractors so now its up to me.

Is it just the L4600 made in Thailand? I have a L4400 (which the 4600 replaced) and I have not seen one label on anything stating made in Thailand. Never heard of this until reading this thread

Its a HST4 WD set up and was wondering how much fluid is involved .....the dealer says the the engine is 8 quarts. How about the hydraulics? I don't have a scrap oil burner....might look for one.
