Its a HST4 WD set up and was wondering how much fluid is involved .....the dealer says the the engine is 8 quarts. How about the hydraulics? I don't have a scrap oil burner....might look for one.

Thanks

On my L4400 I believe eng. oil was 8 quarts, hydraulic is around 10 or 11 gallons.

Is it just the L4600 made in Thailand? I have a L4400 (which the 4600 replaced) and I have not seen one label on anything stating made in Thailand. Never heard of this until reading this thread

Yeah its like a mental block. Years ago I decided I would not buy the first year of anything new or remodeled. I have always been burned by first year bugs. I did like the tractor alot though ans I am going back by the dealer and look at the tag myself

Don't know about the 4600, but our 5030 was eleven gallons. We take all of our fluids to our dealer who burns them to heat their shop.

Your opinion....does Land Pride make a good auger for the L4600? I see where they have one that mounts on the bucket to take advantage of the down pressure rather than the PTO on the rear. Cost??

You can get a down pressure kit for a 3pt PHD if you need to have it. They have hydraulic 3pt augers also.

Been using a case 580 with the bucket full of rocks to drive some T posts in. Need to auger in some RR ties as soon as we get some rain and was just starting to look at auger for the L4600.

Thanks

You are going to notice quite a bit of difference between a 580 and the 4600. I've never looked but I would guess there has to be easier way of driving T-posts. If nothing else I would think a ballast box could be modified to drive them.

Crazyal..... You're probably correct. We have a lot of lava rock mixed in with basalt base rock.

Best

That is the downside to it, very expensive, but if you do a search on here, you will find a lot of satisfied owners using it. I have to have flats fixed in the field and none of the tire services around here handle it, so it was WWF for me. I have considered weights, but that is even more expensive.

When I was ranching in N Dakota they used Calcium Chloride.....it was rough on the wheels. I'm assuming the 'Beet Juice' is better in that regard. I get service on the JD stuff from the local dealer in Nezperce. They do work on other brands but are somewhat reluctant to do so. They fixed the clutch on our D-4 Cat.....it's a 1953 with the pined Holt blade.

You growing corn ?

Mike

Yes beet juice is harmless to the wheels and non toxic if spilled. Growing up, we used calcium chloride and it rusted the wheels out eventually, but took a lot of years.

I haven't farmed since the mid 70's we rent all our row crop land out. This year we had corn, wheat, soybeans and cotton.
