Kubota L5740

So if we get this tractor, it needs a grapple and the hydraulic lines to the front added to operated it. Plus have the front axle grease changed and those suspect bearings tested. With only one hydraulic circuit to the rear, does another need to be added? Also watching for a 4 series JD but many of those don't have a belly pto added.
It depends on what you want to do with rear hydraulics, but one set is pretty limiting. Most people at least want to have hydraulic top link and hitch tilt.

I’ve never had top-and-tilt or a quick-hitch. Guess I’m old fashioned and backward. But if you plan to switch to a rear snowblower, you’ll want at least one rear remote for chute rotation.

As jyoutz said above, it depends on what you plan to do with it. Define that and you can determine minimum needs and options.

He has me on ignore too...
Nice. In reality, I put Hay Dude on ignore (but took him off anyway) because every comment he made countering my posts were adverserial and condescending but I figure if I don't want to read his drivel (it's not all drivel btw), I don't read it.

For some reason I put you on ignore as well. Cannot remember why but when my pea brain realized you are on the other forum that I'm on as well and you leave constructive comments on there (sometimes interspersed with cynicism), plus you have that 090 I'm still contemplating on buying because 2 is better than the one I already own (mine is an 090G), I put 2 and 2 together and came up with 4 wich is hard at my age... anyway so I took you off the ignore feature on here. I like the other forum simply because it has a political section whereas this one don't.

In fact I removed everyone from ignore. easier for me to not use it and miss any good info because of my vanity. As a rule, I don't collect chainsaws nor do I modify them, well I did add the oiled foam air filter and offset crank key to my CS 590 Echo and opened up the muffler a bit as well and removed the miserable limiter caps. While I don't ever demean anyone over there because that is immature as well, the oiled foam air filter on the 590 is a royal PITA, not only to oil, but it gets everywhere under the shroud. Red Beard posts on there so I never say anything disparaging about his stuff. I don't buy into negativity, especially now that I'm a senior citizen.

I look at the ignore feature on this forum as a sign of immaturity and vanity, neither of which I have anymore.

Not sure if I should have posted this, but I did anyway. It's Arly's loss, not mine. I can keep on, keeping on, however, I want to take in as much as I can before my time in the sun is up...

Some people lack impulse control and need a nanny device like the ignore function to sleep well at night.

I used a hay bale grapple for a few years by running hoses from a rear remote. It was a real upgrade when I added a 3rd function. Really nice not to use the remote levers to actuate the grab hooks. Being able to keep your hand on the joystick when actuating a grapple makes it much easier to operate.
On my M's I actually have 3 in cab levers that operate the 3 remotes plus the topmost remote has flow control. I use the closest remote lever (top set) to actuate the '3rd function' if you want to call it that on the FEL, remember both of mine are a lot older than 'modern' units as well. Both are pre 4 100% mechaincal as in no electronics plus they fit my requirements 100% and are long time paid for... You have me curious as to the cost of adding remotes and /or a dedicated 3rd function and I'm not at the dealership this week but will be next week so I can peruse the dealer only Kubota website and get an idea of the cost, which, I'm confident won't be a cheap date. Kubota like JD has become extremelt 'proud' of their OEM parts but then it's that way everywhere today.

I looked at a dedicated grapple, tined bucket bit I have more than enough stuff sitting here that I don't use everyday and so I wanted a grapple but I wanted the ability to remove it as well which is why I went with the Green grapple. Besodes, having 3 buckets with 2 tractors, I always have one bucket sitting in the grass not being used anyway.

Talk about a complicated procedure, using my 3 point swing style stump grinder is complex in the least. I have to run the tractor in creep gear 1, control the swing with one remote lever and the up and down of the head with another lever and pick up the entire stump grinder unit every time I need to move the cutter wheel when grinding big stumps. That was a learning experience. It would have been better with a hydrostat but mine are both geared hydraulic shuttle units. I will say that last night a ground a huge oak stump and even my wife was amazed at the rate it ate it up. Putting 90 pto horses into the stumper really makes it work hard. I lacked enough swing to make it a one pass grind so I had to basically grind 3/4ths of it and reposition the tractor to finish it. I have a huge pile of oak chips in the side yard now.

I ordered the WRLong 3rd function for mine. It fit great and works great. It was around $800. Looked it up and it’s pushing $1000 now.

Two kubota rear remotes on mine were about $1100 but that’s been 10 years or so. All OEM so controls fit the console.

Both of these were parts only since I installed them. Add shop time to pay for the installation if needed.

Thank you. that was exactly what I wanted to know.

Would you do a 1/2 of a mile drive looking backwards? 😆

When I purchased my M9's new I spec'd them both with 3 sets of remotes plus flow control, cast steel centers and on the cab model, the 'deluxe' cab with aircon. rear wiper, front wiper and all the goodies. When I bought the second one, I forgot to order the creep gears but I did order both of them with the 2 speed 540-1000 rpm pto's. Only reason why I own 2 is the hay tools I use are pretty heavy and complex to hitch up so the cab tractor is set up for the computerized round bailer and the other open station runs everything else. I contemplated buying a lesser model but it's nice the way it is. Same filters, same sized tires, samr fuel capacity, basically the same but one has no cab. The older I get and I'm ancient, the less I like hitching and unhitching implements. Been told by the lead wrench at the dealership that the VTE engines I have are the best, longest lasting engines Kubota ever built ay over 5000 hours on each of them with no mechanical issues what so ever, they will far outlast me. I've replaced tires, and some bulbs and filled the washer tank a few times and of course changed the engine oil and trans oil but I've never had a mechanical issue with either one plus in today's EPA mandated market, they both hold their value as in the owner of the dealership told me if I sold either today, I'd probably equal what I paid for them, way back when. I'll leave all of it to my wife and she can off everything, it's all paid for, and take a nice long vacation to the Bahama's or whatever...😂

Well, I plow mainly. Only reverse when drifts are too deep. Much faster to plow.

And I can kinda get sideways in the seat and use my left foot on the hydro. Coffee cup is right there on the right. You’ll really like your warm cab come snow time.
