Kubota LA304 Bucket

I am looking for a bucket for my LA304 loader on my B2320. I am going to be moving a great deal of wood chips and would like a larger bucket, as the chips do not weigh that much and want to maximize my trips from the pile to the site. I see that ATI has some light material buckets available. Anyone have any experiance with these folks? Any ideas on price for a bucket of this type? The other route I was thinking about was getting a second stock bucket to fit my loader and modifying it to make it larger. Anyone know of any sources for new or used Kubota buckets?

Why not make some bolt on sides and top to increase capacity? It would allow you to add a little to capacity with no permanent modification.

I talked to ATI today. They make a light material bucket that would work really well for me. They said MSRP was aroung $890. I am going to look into other manufacturers and at the possibility of getting another new or used Kubota bucket and adding on to it. Are there any other makers that everyone woule recomend? I don't think the ATI bucket is out of line price wise, there products look really nice, I just want to know what all my options are.

I helped my church get a B7800 a couple of years ago and had a quick attach from an L series installed. That of course allows QA style buckets, forcks or most of the other 'bobcat' style implements to be used. A bobcat heavy duty bucket holds considerably more than my L series bucket...

The versatility of the B7800 is nice-we made a QA snow plow to do a little clearing.

After pricing new high capacity buckets, the bucket extension made by BXpanded, and looking at used buckets that I could modify to fit my tractor, here is what I have come up with. I built my own bucket extension. The extension is simply thee pieces of steel that bolt together and into the bucket. It removes in minutes and stores flat. I am able to heap the bucket very full with woodchips now. Probably three of four times more that just the regular Kubota bucket. Best of all this was completely free, I only have to spend one evening to build it. I just need to stop using it long enough so that I can paint it to match the tractor. For those that do not want to or have the ability to fabricate something like this but still want more capacity, check out the BXpanded website. They have a nice bucket extending that is not quite as large as mine, but installs in moments and is not too expensive.

Hey! You can't beat free. I would much rather be looking at someone's simple home-spun solution then what you can buy with a large stack of money. It looks sooooo pretty too, because it is functional.

That turned out great. No need to buy something if you've got welding skills.

Give it a couple of months, and I'm sure you'll eventually paint it orange. That's what happens whenever I make something up for my tractor.

Here are some pictures of the bucket extender in action spreading wood chips at the dog park. It easily doubles if not triples bucket capacity with light materials like wood chips.
