I have a 2009 Kubota L2800 with a LA463 loader. The loader had a bucket cylinder leak and I took it to a shop to have it repaired. They called with an astronomical estimate over $600 with tax and I decided not to use the shop and went and picked it up. They had opened the cylinder and pull out all the seals and they charged me $45 for the estimate and refused to reassemble it. Anyone in the Gilbert AZ area should probably avoid Cohone Technologies IMHO.

So I could use some help. The parts diagram for the cylinder shows 8 seals, o-rings and spacers and I have no idea how I will get them in the right order and orientation when Kubota does not label the individual parts in the drawing. Any assistance on this would be really appreciated. Here is the drawing from Messick's website. I have ordered the kit which includes the parts shown as 060. Click on the image to enlarge it.

I have a l3800 I will dig out the work shop manual tomorrow and see what it shows...

Could always do the seals in the other cylinder also, that way you'll have a reference if you need it. Most likely it's not far behind on needing a rebuild anyways, unless an outside source damaged the current cylinder you're working on.

Most likely the seals will be pretty self explanatory once you have them in hand.

Peter, I would really appreciate that. Thanks.

TMGT, rebuilding the other cylinder to see the order of the parts is my backup plan. Hopefully, Peter will find the procedure in his shop manual and save me the extra work. That cylinder is working perfectly and I hate to disturb it.

Might want to investigate online videos of kubota or other cylinders for general reference.

Some seas only seal in one direction, so think about where the pressure is if any of these types are used. Example:
U-cup seals.

Good luck.

NOTHING in the books on the loader Sorry...:(

I looked in the LA1153 loader WSM.

More complicated than I would have thought with special jigs needed to install the seals.

Also this caution: Do not turn (roll) the piston seal as you install it.

See attached pages.

I also look for a loader WSM on Kubotabooks.com

I found LA344 344S

Index of Kubotabooks/Loaders and buckets/

Its seal servicing procedure is the same using special jigs.

Thanks for checking Peter. I appreciate it.

I didn't find much on YouTube specific to this cylinder. It is not how to do it, rather the specific arrangement and orientation of the seals, spacers, and o-rings I need to get right. That hydraulic shop dumped all the components in a bag and told me if I am not going to have them do the rebuild, they were not going to reassemble it. Specific to that, I am going to file a complaint with VISA today in an attempt to get the charge reversed; failing that I will go to Small Claims court. While they do post a $45 min charge for inspection, there was no reason to strip the guts out. The nick on the shaft was plainly visible and should have been enough to generate a repair quote. Even if they opened it up, there was still no reason to strip out the seals and o-rings, especially since they broke one of the spacers and damaged two of the o-rings in the process mandating the installation of a new seal kit. I still could have gotten by with it as the leak was very slow. At least it would have been my choice.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox. I have gone ahead and ordered a second seal kit for the other side and I will use it as my guide to rebuilding the first one.

Thanks for all the thoughts and suggestions guys.
