Is this a range club? Any member w/ proper size tractor receives a discount if assisting w/ berm maintenance

I have a set of steel ramps , custom made w/ checkered plate when extra reach is required

There are a nubmer of folks offering high-lift buckets, HLA, Canada, pretty sure EA has them as well. A note: I have an MX, no tire ballast. Lift capacity is probably 1200 lbs w/o substantial 3 point ballast.

No, it's private - no members or other people shooting there.

Steel ramps sound like a better solution than my dirt/gravel inclines. I'm guessing that's something a lot more substantial than the ramps you drive your truck up on for a driveway oil change? Can you post a picture? I like that idea and have an acquaintance who does incredibly good welding work inexpensively.

$4k more to step up to an L4701 w/ LA765 loader and that only leaves me ~15" of height to overcome which should be doable. But the $4k probably isn't the real # going up a frame size....probably way too much for my 5' box blade, bush hog so would need to replace those too being more $. Maybe not 'have to' but if you have the tractor capacity for much larger stuff why toil with (2 sizes?) smaller?

Besides the larger engine, larger frame, a little more weight, and larger FEL, does L4701 come standard with anything else that L3901 wouldn't have?

Also - for reference - anyone trying to decide among L3301, L3901, & L4701, un-negotiated quotes with one dealer for industrial tires, HST, SSQA bucket with current Kub promotions & 0% finance is $20,5/$22,3/$26,3. Something about buying another implement (loader counts as 1) knocks some more off. Those aren't OTD #s - no insurance, tax, dealer fee, etc. Just a random reference point from here in NC. That's @ 60 months....longer terms still 0% but $600 more. I really don't understand the finance process....:)

Ramp photos, I did NOT measure, they are about 6' in length, gentle incline, 11" rise approx. Stops at top of ramp: critical!!

Don't have TYM or Branson locally that I know of. Local Mahindra, won't be back to that dealer. When I was searching for one I have now they were far less than helpful. There is another Mahindra dealer not too far...just don't know enough about their line. Worth checking into...I'm open to any brand really. Just started with LS since that's what I have and then went to Kubota since I'm familiar with them and family has long history of great luck from Kubotas since the early 80's

So ducked out of work a few minutes early and went to other local Mahindra dealer. Since I don't know much about them asked what would be direct comparison to L3901. Nice machines but left wondering about the "get a lot more for less money" claims I've read here about Mahindra (or LS or whoever) vs Kubota. Other than the upgraded cushy seat on the 2638 I couldn't find much that came standard on the Mahindra that wasn't on the Kubota. Ind tires, SSQA bucket - both small upcharges from Kubota were base features. Otherwise, I couldn't find anything extra. Possibly the bucket level indicator - not sure if LA525 loader has that standard.

I did note that while the seat was much nicer on the 2638, it wouldn't move back far enough (I'm average - 5'10", 31" inseam) and my leg was at 90 deg angle on the HST control pedals (literally stomping directly straight down). Didn't have that problem on the 2538 and non-upgraded seat, it went back far enough to be in comfortable operating position. I liked the loader joystick on the fender on the 2638 and felt more comfortable in that position, but all the hoses are low and exposed. I wouldn't take that machine into the woods without some sort of guard fabricated - the loader hoses look like they're begging to snag on anything. The 2538 had better routing and didn't have that problem. I liked how the machines operated and drove. Loader moved really smooth, HST brake was real nice in low gear, controls pretty intuitive and easy to reach. If the 2638 fit me better, I would definitely consider. He explained the mCRD as a benefit, but since I don't deal with burn-offs/regen now I don't know how to evaluate that as a feature.

The more for the $ part I guess is in the loader. 94.3" max/76.2" dump/1131 lbs @ pins LA525 vs the Mahindra 101" max/79.3" dump/1634 lbs. Cost wasn't all that much off from the Kubota however. I was expecting a huge difference, but $22,3 for Kubota (with tire & SSQA upgrades) vs $22,2 for the 2638 or $21,8 for the 2538. 3130 lbs weight for the Mahindra vs 2778 lbs L3901 so 350 difference there. 2 more years powertrain warranty on the Mahindra too. But since I will be borrowing ~half, the Kubota is actually cheaper overall with 0% for 5 yrs vs 6.5% for Mahindra. In all, I was quite surprised to find out for two very similar machines the Kubota actually came very competitive on price since I was expecting a "premium price" on the orange.

So...LS is out, Mahindra is out. What else should I compare? Locally have New Holland (LS in ~40HP size?), Kioti, Massey Ferguson, & JD. Possibly others but those are all I remember seeing in the area.

Based on your pic of the shooting berm, with your approach ramp in the rear of the frame that supports the berm, what about having a few loads of dirt delivered and unloaded behind the supporting frame and thereby increasing the height of the approach ramp? Actually, I would favor spending the money on a tractor with a FEL that fits your needs, but you might price out that alternative.

FWIW, about a year ago we traded in a L3800 on a MX5800. The L3800 was a great tractor. The main factor that led us to make the change was the FEL capacity--just lifting capacity, not lift height for our applications.
