KUBOTA M6800 or NH TN75

although, if I had the money and the property to use it on....I would like to try out a New Holland TV145 Bi-Directional Tractor....We had a guy come and clear out some property for my Grandparents. He had one with a Seppi Flail Mower on it, running it in the reverse direction....all hydrostatic transmission. Slick tractor.

Nice to dream isn't it?

Ive spent some time on a 6800, own a tc40 and am looking at a tn. Just my opinion, but while the Kubota is as well built and dependable a machine as you will fine, it is just ergonomically goofy. The controls are large, stiff and oversensitive. I destroy my knuckles every time trying to jam the thing into 2nd gear due to bolt heads on dash hitting your hand. If youre used to a Kubota you wont notice, but I would.

I think if you look at the specs on the TN 75 and M6800 you will find the TN to be a higher output tractor. The M6800 would be more comparable to the TN 65. Both of these tractors would be naturally aspirated (non turbo charged). The TN 75 is more comparable to the M8200.

When I was looking at tractors I shopped NH, JD, and Kubota. The local JD dealership acted like they didn’t want to sell me anything. They did offer a much smaller USED tractor for much more money. I never looked back. NH wanted to deal with me but I needed to lower the profile of the tractor, smaller tires, under slung exhaust, foldable ROPs, ect. I ended up finding a M9000 that was already set up the way I needed it and I ended up getting it for a couple thousand less than the TN 75.

I really liked the all the tractors in this class. There were a couple of things that stand out to me. I liked the NH loader best. I like how the Kubota engine is so smooth and quiet.

I just don’t think you can go wrong a utility class tractor from one of the big three brands but if I was choosing between and TN75 and a M6800 and money was equal I would get the TN75. That’s an easy choice. It would be a harder choice deciding between a TN 75 and a M8200.

NO, my friend, I haven't any stock of NH.
But I have, as I told before, licensed FIAT tractor. One of best decisions when bought and upgraded later. So, for me SATISFACTION is more important than having stocks.
My other tractor is not FIAT, but is Italian made too.
Kubota here is name for "chocolate" - you can't see them even on comercials. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

About UTB Universal, or Long there - people here now have more choice than ever before, and still buy new Universal tactors. That must tell you something about quality.

ZJ- I have driven a Universal Tractor before and they look just like a Long tractor, but the one I drove had twelve foward gears(4 creeper gears). I owned a 2610 Long and the engine seemed powerful, but lots of oil and fuel leaks and nagging problems(I would not recommend, compared to others). A lot of neighbors around me use Long tractors and have had pretty good luck, but most get rid of them by 3000 hours. My wife's brother has a Long 445 and he rebuilt the engine last year with around 1800 hours and it was maintained well. It cost him a fortune to do this(over three thousand dollars).

Now getting back to the subject. I tend to disagree with you on the Kubota front axle and engine. The M6800 has the same front axle and engine(minus the turbo and intercooler) as the M9000. I am sure that Japan has had engineers to test these well with the 90 engine HP M9000. The way the Honda and Toyota vehicles last surely Japan wouldn't let their tractor line down. Also from the research I have done the M6800 outweighs the TN-75 barely.

If the price was the same I might take the TN-75, but I am not sure I would be getting the best tractor and also the Kubota has a 3 year warrenty(the 3rd year on the engine and drive train and the NH only has two years)

Kubota list the M6800 at 4610 pounds in 4wd and rops config. The same specs on the TN-75A and it weighs 5730 pounds. The cab/ FWA model of the M6800 weighs 6175 compared to 6602 for the TN 75A. You can find this information at both companies websites.

There have been Kubotas up here with front axle problems when used with fels in ag applications.

There have been NH's down here with front axle problems with FEL applications in both AG and general purpose situations.

What problems have the TN's have? Other then the weak 2wd front axel on the TN 55 I have not heard of any problems with the front axels of the TN's.

Woodbeef, what were the problems on the Kubotas? Was it the FWA axel or a 2wd axel and what models if you remember.

Hi Robert, my post was not regarding TN's, it was the smaller models. With some digging, you will see the pictures of a fellas front axle broken right where the hub and axle meet posted here at TBN. There was a concensous that it was a problem with that NH axle for the models using those axles.
