Thanks guys. Unfortunately I can't find a suitable substitute that has the mounting pins in the right place on the top and bottom. (See the diagram in the first post -- item 180 fits over the mounting pins. 4 places.)

I went ahead and ordered an OEM radiator today. Figured I'd just get it over with.

Not that it adds appreciably to the discussion at this point, but attached are some pics of the busted radiator.

I get zero hits on the google monster when I search for the Denso part number(s). (I was hoping for an aftermarket cross reference.)

That really sucks.

It wasn't long ago we paid that much for a new core to bolt between the tanks for a big truck.

I can sympathize with you on this subject. A few years back a tree branch broke the bottom corner pin out of my L3830 radiator. I paid $500 here for a new rad. I saved the old one, maybe someday I will remove the lower plastic pan and drop a bolt down with a rubber washer.

JB Weld might do it. If you've got room to epoxy a metal sleeve around it, (flashing/coil stock) that would really stiffen it up.

Don't throw the broken one away ... those plastic tanks crack with old age .. usually the top ones where its hotter .. lol , so you will have a spare.
you can buy special glue to weld up these tanks but its only for emergency crack repair, doubt that it would fix yours

this wont help you at all. but just for reference I repaired a kabota radiator that had a very simular looking break. but mine wasnt the hose connection it was the support stud that broke off, the piece 180 goes over. I roughed up the palastic, laid down a thick bed of jb weld, pushed a flat plate of aluminum into the jb weld until it pressed out from all four sides. then I let it cure for 24 hours. resanded the whole surface and "painted "the whole corner with jb weld. tractor has held up fine to hard use in the florida heat.

Good lord! I'd have probably started looking for a bridge to jump off if that had happened to me. (Glad you didn't.)

I don't feel so bad now. Group therapy works, I guess. :)

Thanks for all your suggestions and expressions of empathy. I'm going to keep the broken radiator -- who knows: someone somewhere may someday have need for the upper tank or the core and I may be able to help him out.

I've thought about using JB Weld to repair it, but honestly, i'm not sure it'd withstand the forces associated with installing and removing the hose, let alone the pressure on such a large area as the gash in the radiator now.

Firemanpat, I'm intrigued by your repair -- well done for avoiding the cost of a new radiator!
