Buying Advice Kubota or Kioti or Mahindra or LS or McCormick????

For what it's worth, the Kioti CKs don't have a 4WD light. European/Australian models have horns. Wish the U.S. one's did.

I recommend you look at all the brands you can find including the ones not mentioned in your title. For six acres that are manicured or is the intended goal make sure you get the features you wan't. Maybe a deluxe tractor will be more useful for you.

What upsets me is the difference in price one label will ask when another, using identical components, asks considerably more. Difficult to be an informed consumer today, especially if you are the type who purchases on a whim.

That's what really annoys me as well. I don't get the huge price differences that come with different paint, or decals. For what it's worth, I think knowing that the Massey is made by Iseki might actually be a positive for folks who know something about tractors.

agreed ... Iseki is known to make good products. Which diesel are they using? Is it also a Mitsubishi?

The larger Masseys over 100 HP are using the in house AGCO Sisu engine. A very good engine from what I understand. Iseki has been making tractors since the 60s, they are not a newcomer. Some are/were made with Iseki engines, but there were/are Mitsubishis in models as well. They seem to all over the map.

I agree, Iseki has been around for some time, I had no issues buying my 1660 a couple of months ago.

The new 1700s will be using a Mitsubishi engine, Iseki didn't want to pursue emissions compliance I'm told by my dealer. Iseki will still be assembling the 1700, Iseki drive train with Mitsubishi emission compliant diesels.

Right, some White/Oliver models circa 1975-85 were really Iseki's and sellers are quick to point that out, definitely a positive like most anything ''Japan''.

How about two used tractors, a B-series Kubota and an older, 35 to 40 hp with a loader? $6000 will buy you a workhorse with lots of lifting and bulling capacity. $10K will buy a great B-series Kubota with mower deck and low hours.

I have five tractors on 107 acres, allowing me the luxury of a Massey Ferguson 35 dedicated to the timber winch. Its manure fork loader works very well for loading logs onto a trailer. The TAFE 351 has a cab in winter, a snow blower and a 5' bucket on a good loader. It does the snow removal and most of the heavy work on the farm, but this adds up to well under 100 hours per year. The Kubota B7510 HST doubles that with service on the block splitter, 4' bush hog, 5' belly mower, small dump trailer and the generator. It's smaller than the TAFE and easier to fit with implements, and lawn mowing is the most machine-intensive activity on the farm.

The biggest complaint I have heard about the B-series Kubotas is that they're not big enough to lift anything important. That's why the one I bought came up for sale at 200 hours. So why not have the loader on a heavier tractor which doesn't cost much? The TAFE has lifted everything I have tried, especially when I have the 5' Rhino rotary mower on the back. Three chain hooks welded to the bucket do the heavy work around the farm with relative ease.

OP you have gotten some great advice. test drive/demo any tractor you are interested it some may not "fit" you. don't be sacred to walk away. also who isgoing to do the work on your tractor? make sure parts are easy/quick to come by. one of the reasons i like JD is the local dealers have or have next day any part i have ever needed

when i was looking at tractors i didn't notice a huge difference in price, there was a different but not more than $2-3K, to me that's not huge and hthe tractor i looked at were quite different (i was looking at stripped down utility tractors)

the 1648 i demoed had an iseki engine, as you said lots of the 15xx and 16xx series tractors had isekis, the one i drove was very smooth
