Different dealers have different overhead, debt, taxes and probably profit expectations. So "could not" probably more means "will not" .

Without hesitation.... Kubota!!

It might be like comparing an American Fighter to a MIG. They do both have advantages.

This is very true! No comparison!!

There is always a comparison. Overall build quality, I'd have to go with Kubota. The Tym made Mahindras are very close and getting nicer and nicer. Their seat is something you can take a nap on it's so comfortable. Also, on the Tym built Mahindra's, there are separate pedals for back and forth. If you offered me for free this Mahindra or the commensurate Kubota and the Kubota had the "threadle" type foot pedal, it would be "no comparison" for me. I'd choose the Mahindra.

All depends on the "criteria" for comparisons.
You can even compare "twins" with certain comparisons.

And so are you and him.

So letç—´ see is the price of the other brands inflated? Or is the price of the kubota deflated?

Letç—´ put this an other way.
You offer me a free tractor, brand new any brand I want with one stipulation. I must sign legal documentation that I can never sell it!
Which brand would I choose? Guess what the kubota is not even going to be a consideration on my part.
That dreaded single treadle pedal would have me cursing you every time I had to spend more than 10 min on it and I also don稚 want an other orange tractor since I like my Kioti so much it won稚 be sold till I知 dead and gone.
Most likely I would go with LS or a TYM as I haven稚 owned one before and they both offer me what I want. As pointed out in my post I haven稚 had enough input to make me consider the Mahindra over the others at this point.

I believe he said most people not all people. His analysis of most people probably still holds true. IM not going to disagree that certain brands are inflated most definitely are. But the idea is same tractor for free pretty sure i know which brands most would take.

The "right" amount of money is what you the buyer proclaim it is. After that, nothing else matters. Say you offer 28,000 for that 30K tractor or whatever. The dealer jumps on your offer because he would of sold it to you for 25K . You'll never know that unless he makes that proclamation. Now if you say that it is the unknown that disturbs you, you can play that game with anything. Pretty soon you're not leaving your house because of the "unknowns". I exaggerate but you get what I'm saying.

Pick a landing spot. Try and get there and if you do, be happy. You could have payed 30K like some other people would have. Owning a business is a major pain in the arse. So you helped the guy out a bit by not getting the last dollar. You got some at least.. The world is in equilibrium :)

good dealers understand that people want a deal and price their stuff accordingly. Again like you said a deal is all in how you feel about it. I think we are moving to a place real soon where 'deals' will be no longer. The internet is pushing that. You see it most things now and I think another decade or so its going to be a take it or leave it price. People will be upset but the market being global now and with the internet, will just take care of the deal for you.

I think it is moving in that direction too. No deals, just a take it or leave it price.

But I disagree that the internet is what changed it. Sure the internet has a role, but I think what changed it just as much is how much that the used market in anything has fallen. People would rather buy new today. Manufacturing has embraced that by ensuring that many new things are no longer repairable. Buying an item new then becomes the only option - which adds to the strength of a debt-basic economy in which manufacturers make money twice.... once on the item itself and again by financing the purchase.

This new way of doing debt-based consumerism seems to me to be very different from the old "deal" making economy that relied heavily on a used market in repairable items.

The used market sucks in many areas because there is no value in going with used, enough people are paying high prices for used. I noticed this with pickups and tractors. There is still value in some vehicles though, it just depends on what you are looking at. I think the reason some of the used market is inflated is because it used to be difficult to finance used and interest rates were much higher. Now you can go online and have cash in your account in couple days to use for buying from a private party. That just wasn't the case in the not too distant past. Like all things, easy credit inflates the prices. Housing, cars, tractors, college, you name it.

The used (pre Tier 4 market) is inflated because people are realizing the post 4 units are problematic. I don't want to call it inflated though, just pre 4 units are more valuable.

Had a buddy call me the other day. Told me at an auction he went to, a 2004 M9 Cab tractor sold for 42 grand. That is what I paid NEW for my 2004. Good return on investment for the previous owner.

You cannot a pre 4 unit over 80 pto around here at all. Either the owners that have them are keeping them (like me) or they get snapped up immediately.

I don't need or want anything post 4 and that includes my pickup truck.
