Thanks Guys, you sure cleared up a lot of unknowns for me. I'm somewhat knowledgeable in fluid flows, pressures, and tubing. I work with gas pressures up to 14,000 psig and various fluid types up to 6000 psig. My job is testing hardware for the space program, hence the moniker, Spaceman. Just not sure of all the details and terms for tractors.
Kenny, I guess I want a combination of PB and remotes, so now that you've cleared up the difference, I'll have to dream up a setup with a couple of two way valves. I don't have anything like a log splitter at the moment, but hope to in the future. In the near future, I would like to get a hydraulic top link that I can adjust depending on the implement.
John, you are so right regarding people who spend more learning as they go. I taught myself to fly RC airplanes and I gotta tell ya, that was expensive!

You know what would be nice? If somebody would make a video of how to install PB/Rear remotes. Kind of like the everythingattachments web site. They have some videos on how to install and operate some items and if you don't know how it's a big help!

There are just to many machines and different setups to do that...

If you want to bring your tractor to MD and a digital video camera I will do it for you

Just did some research on the cost of a PB kit. $650.00!! Think I'll do some work on my own. Who makes a good spool valve and what type should I buy?

What is the flow rate (GPM) for your machine? There are a few good choices available depending on the size you need.

Also do a search for the term "remote" for hours of reading on this subject.

That was the cost of the block to pick up the hydraulic in the back ($85), the hoses ($170) and the valve kit ($385). I believe my GPM is just under 5.

The best valve for 5 GPM or under IMHO is this Eaton/Cessna compact valve due to it's physical size.

OK, more newbie questions. I've decided I want to put in two spool valves using the same connection ports to the hydraulics in the back. One in the back near the ROPS so I can have it close by for a hydraulic adjustable link, and another one on the loader frame to supply QD couplers on the front for future projects such as a grapple or angle plow hanging off the bucket.

1. Do I need some kind of flow splitter? It seems if both valves are open center, neither would work because flow would be going through them simultaneously unless both (not likely) are in use.
2. How does the PB port work on these spool valves? Looking at the valve schematics, it appears they are just a tap off the outlet/return line?
3. Because making and breaking the connections at the QD's can introduce dirt and such into the hydraulic system which the hydro also uses, would it be a good idea to put a filter on the return line?
