Kubota Price Increase March 1

The big price increases are coming across all equipment brands, 85hp and larger. The increase comes courtesy of our friendly federal government, and there's no way around it. The new Tier 4 engines are expensive, and now mandated by federal law. Common rail injection, diesel exhaust fluid, particulate filters etc.

Some machines are grandfathered in via carbon credits, but that ends when the manufacturer runs out of credits in their "carbon bank." The M108S is an example of this.

Things will get ugly when the next round of federal emissions laws kick in, mandating this stuff on all offroad diesel engines 25hp and larger. Yes, that means your diesel zero turn mower, BX and RTV will be getting computer controlled common rail engines.

This is all due entirely to the federal government and their "wisdom." Engine prices go up, AG producers pay more, and the inflation gets passed down to the commodity market and straight to your grocery budget. Three cheers for over-regulation!

Wow, probably deserves another thread, but did your dealer say what they were going to have to add to the tractor to increase the price 15-20%?? That's a lot of difference. Now is definitely the time to buy a new tractor. I would be interested in know what engineering the manufacturers have to do to meet these new emissions requirements, and why it costs so darn much:confused::confused:

Spencer C, in the post above, nailed the answer. Can't add anything more.

BUY NOW if you are at all considering a new tractor.

Problem is Kubota is having trouble keeping up with the demand and the new regs will make the demand even higher for current models. The law of supply and demand will keep new prices up and dealers will be more reluctant to swing a deal.

My talkative dealer keeps saying he could sell a lot more tractors if Kubota could provide them in a timely manner. The wait is at least three months for some models.

I agree. Looks like I won't be buying a new tractor for a long time. I just bought a new (used) machine, so I'm set for a while, though. Now is definitely the time, though, 20% increase and a computer controlled engine. You'd have to DECREASE the price by 20% for me to want a computer controlled engine...

What is the difference between "Tier 4" being discussed as coming onboard in the next year or so and "Interim Tier 4" which is what my L4600 currently meets?

Interm is only good for another 2 years, it won't meet full Tier 4.

price increase is on factory shippments, its not retro active. The reason is because the dollar continues to fall against the Yen... another reason why Kubota is building another factory in the US.

Tier 4 will not cost 20-25%.. whoever said that is full of hot air. Its 3000-4000 on a $60,000 tractor. On the biggest stuff in the 200HP range where we are already at Tier 4 its 4-6%. The cost is paid back in fuel savings, but you do need to be using your tractor enough to realize that savings, joe compact who puts 75-100 hrs a year on his machine won't see that.

Guess I had better get my act in gear. (HST, actually.) OK - I already had my wheels in motion. Might be able to absorb the new 4% for "new"; but a coming 15% or so: NOT.

OK, given that math and information about the 200HP tractors it appears that ALL tractors will take the $3000 - $4000 hit. For a bare BX at $10,000 it would be a 30% - 40% increase.:confused2:

I'll concede that generalizations are being made but not many of us small guys are in the $60,000 range.
