Kubota RTV 900 problems?

I really appreciate the assistance....I have CREEP.I tried playing with the link at the top of the hst and I was only able to lessen it somewhat, but then it just wanted to creep in the reverse direction (while the shift lever was in H). It CREEPS without giving it much throttle. Would love to get that dump valve to do its business.

If it does creep then you need to adjust that first and that should make a world of difference. On the transmission, there is a servo valve, it is black and on the top. There is a lever on the top of the servo valve with an adjustable link going from the lever to the hst linkage further up the side of the trans. That link is the one that you want to adjust. You can center the hst with that link, but it can be touchy, so do it in small increments. Loosen both of the jam nuts, on each end, then with the back tires off the ground like how you check for the creep, rev the engine to maximum with the trans. in neutral. If it does, adjust the link until it stops. It is very important that you have the engine revs at max for this though so it is more sensitive and you get a more accurate neutral. Let me know how this works, but it will just slide out of gear every time if it doesnt creep, and you shift correctly as I have directed.

I have set the link so that there is no CREEP while the rear wheels are elevated and engine is at full throttle. It was a bit trickey as you say but I was finally able to dial it in. I even had it creeping backwards for a while when I had the link extended too far.

I have scanned through my workshop manual and I can find no reference to the "dump valve"..Is it possible that my unit being an '04 model didn't come with the dump valve????

And again your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I am a kubota tech at a dealer, so I dont have anything for you to read about it, but what I know is from experience. I have to say, 90% of the shifting problems that I have run into are due to operator error. If you dont know how to shift the trans properly, you will have a problem. It all comes down to taking the pressure off the driveline so you can shift the transmission which is done two ways. The early models did not have the pressure release knob on the dash, so if you stopped for a second with your foot on the brake pedal, and then push hard before you shift, it will just slide out of gear and into the next. The brake linkage is also tied into the hst pressure release valve. The newer ones had the knob you could pull to do the same thing, but still had the brake pedal tied into it like the earlier ones. Now on the new ones, there is no knob anymore, just the brake pedal again. If there is one thing I always tell rtv owners and operators, it is to just have a little patience with the shifting. With a little less speed, they shift perfectly every time.

Matt... Now that I have eliminated the CREEP, how can I check/adjust the pressure relief valve that gets activated by the brake pedal pressure on my '04 model...

What is the problem if mine starts in H range? What adjustments need to be made and where?

This is on a different subject. I am having to push harder on the gas pedal to get any speed out of my Kubota rtv 900 . Is there an adjustment that I could make to get more power?

I love my 2006 RTV 900,yes it had some shifting problems and drive shaft problems at first but I have them corrected now.

How did you correct the drive shaft problem.

The drive to the front on mine was very noisy - discovered it was the halfway bearing siezed and slipping on the shaft. Got some grease into the bearing and welded then lathed the shaft for a tight fit.

Still some rattley noise left, I think it's the universal joints spline, loose on the shaft spline - looking for some inspiration on how to tighten those up.
