Kubota RTV500: Issues Resolved?

   / Kubota RTV500: Issues Resolved? #21
Thanks for the comments. I am still wavering. I talked to a JD dealer yesterday. I keep coming back to the Kubotas because of the 0/60 financing, the proximity of the dealer, the fact that the Kubota is or seems to be a dedicated work machine rather than a mixture of trail/utility, and the reputation for quality the K tractors seem to have in this area. Right now I seem to be leaning more toward the diesel 900. In my fifty years of farming, there have been few things as reliable as a diesel engine. Another question: I have seen videos of a three-point-hitch used with the 900. Is this really feasible? Does the Kubota actually have the same transmission as the tractors? It would really be nice to hook a five foot harrow, or a planter, or even a light plow to the UV. I don't mean for daily use, but for planting a garden, or getting a food plot ready. The thing just needs a pto to really make this feature highly usable.

Still thinking about it. It is a lot of money.:confused3:
Here is my :2cents:, Gas, Diesel, or Electric?

I have had all three over the years, and for my needs now, I prefer Electric!

First one was gas

Traded that in on Diesel

Traded that in on Electric

Upgraded the tires, to Interco Interforce 27-7.5-14, 6 ply, 2" narrower, 2" bigger diameter.

Pulls a trailer and handles side slopes.

A 3 point hitch is available that would do what you mentioned,

This Polaris EV mid size wheelbase is narrower and and shorter than the others that I had. It has more power and speed also.
And is much quieter :D

I have had a rtv900 for 3/4 years and the thing has never shifted right. It always bines up when shifting. Another thing is the driveshaft noise that sounds like it going to come through the floor. Then when I put the snowblade on it went from binding to cannot shift at all hardly. When you have to shut it off to change gears you know it's a problem. Every Kubota dealer I talked to says thats just the way they are. Really?? I've come to the conclusion that Kubota service centers are crap. They just want to sell you a new one. Guess most places are like that :) Maybe other kubota dealers are different but I doubt it. I like my BX way better. It just works better.

Well when you learn how to shift one they work just fine, my Polaris binds when you take it out of park worse then the RTV does.

You must have gotten a BX that doesn't have the hydraulic gremlins my father's does. 5 times in the shop for repair work within the 2 yr warranty....the last trip they adjusted the hydraulic pressure relief way down (they claim not but the loader won't lift a full bucket of heavy snow now) and the dang thing is still seeping somewhere in the rear of the tractor. I hear a lot of people that brag up the quality of Kubota but I haven't seen it, in theory they make nice products but in my father's BX tractor and my old RTV 500 I'm not convinced. I would agree service centers would make a difference the problem is if they are the problem I'm not close to the really good one....that being said the selling dealer has been excellent on other brand products so I'm thinking it's a Kubota problem but who knows. I'd really like to get the BX to not leak any fluid, it's still under 5 yrs old and it leaks more hydraulic than my 40 yr old International 2544.
Hmm, the only real issue we have had with ours was a leaking return line (hard line that ran across the back of the tractor, was spraying fluid every time the 3 point reached the top of its travel). They replaced it with a regular hydraulic hose.

That one went bad 4 of the times....if it spring another leak I'll have to go with a regular hose....I thought of it at the time but wasn't sure if it would have a tendency to collapse at all where it does have a bit of a bend. Sounds like it's been working for you so I'll give it a shot if needed.

I sent a list of things to be done (was due for a full fluid change) and I requested that they replace it with a flexible hose. Its a 5000PSI 1/4" hose just like on the plow/loader and its not under vacuum, so I wasn't worried about it collapsing...
