Kubota sues Kioti

Richard: My previous response to your post was evidently removed (censored) presumably because someone was "offended" by my pointing out certain historical facts. But you are right. It is obvious to any reasonable person what Kioti's intent is. John

I agree it is pretty obvious. Personally I have no doubt it was their intent all along. Now they get a big lawsuit with kubota. What better advertising than a big lawsuit. The big bad kubota beating up on a little old new company. What a joke. Few people have any morals left in business anymore.

Thank you Tres..../w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I never owned a Kubota,I never drove one I have a John Deere 4400.With that being said....Where I live there are a lot of Kubotas,be it a lawn mower or a compact tractor and I never have heard anything bad about a Kubota.Way back in the early 80's I was looking at Kubotas and Mitsubishi....I went with the Mitsubishi because the Kubota dealer was so far away...The Mitsubishi (Beaver III)served me well for years,I finally outgrew the Mitsubishi and not to mention the Mitsubishi parts(what few I ever needed) were hard to find because Mitsubishi had quit selling the tractors in the states and mind you the internet life had never made it to my home yet,so finding parts was not easy.Another kid on the block back then was Yamnar. These were the 3 brands to have back then in a compact tractor(in my opinion)it was the same as the auto industry, because like it or not but the Japanese were doing the right things by making such good things, they were kicking our butts in quality. My John Deere 4400 has not been with out problems,it has caused me more problems in 18 months and the same amount of hours (give or take 30 hours) than the Mitsubishi caused me in 18 years. The most confidence I have in the reliability factor on my JD4400 is the engine,it has performed flawless and it is a Yamnar engine.I like my JD4400 despite the problems and frustration I have had with owning it,it is a bigger machine than the Mitsubishi and I have done some big jobs with it and it is a comfortable tractor to operate.

Me too! I don't know of anyone who has bought a Kioti just to get it home and say they thought it was a Kubota. I do have one story that is just the opposite of that though. I almost lost a sale to a guy because he thought his buddies tractor was a Kubota, he had used and abused it but had no problems. Come to find out it was actually a KIOTI. He had come to me at a Fair we were doing thinking we were with the Kubota dealer right beside of us. He mentioned his buddies name and that he really liked that Kubota, of course I had to tell him it was actually a KIOTI. How popular was Kubota in the mid-eighties? I remember my father talking about them in a not-so-nice way (I think it was the backwards PTO thing). He ended up buying a Satoh Beaver III too. I am not bashing Kubota no-one can dispute the fact that they are a well-built tractor and that they have blazed the trail for OEM's to sell directly to the public through their own dealers. I am disputing the fact that a company should have to change their color just because they the same color as another manufacturer. Colors should not be trademarked. Mahindra is the same color as the International that they are copy of. Long has tractors that are the same color as the Fords that they are copies of. I have seen ads from both of these companies saying they are duplicate of their OEM brethren. It is not an uncommon thing. I have yet to see an ad that says KIOTI's are the same as a Kubota but, I'm sure there are unscrupulous dealers out there that have done it.

Tractor companies could stop all this by offering different colors. I would like a deep, pearl blue color shift paint with silver on yellow checker flags, torn and streaming down the cowl as if my loader had ripped them up and they were laid down the side. I want aluminum wheels and dual tuned exhuast. Chrome, lot's of chrome. Yeah, that's the ticket. Viva le 'bota. J

Sounds Good to me!! I used to do a little bodywork on the side. It was what I had planned on doing when I got out of school but, it didn't work out that way.

Chrome don't get'cha home but at least it looks good settin' on the side of the road!
