I am toying with maybe trading the JD GX255 I just bought as a back-up to my 3520 for mowing, in on a Kubota diesel lawn tractor, but I want to find a used one so my cost will be low. Any tips on where to look? Another thing, I just don't like the need for storing gas and diesel.

Who has a TG1860? Anything in particular that you've had trouble with? I'm leery of the belt drive with a diesel, any kind of issues with it under load? I'm a little hung up on price right now...$4900.I know the diesel will last a long time, but it's difficult for me to justify that kind of money for a riding mower. I can get into an X300 Deere for $2600,and the only real difference is the powertrain. I wish JD had a smaller rider with a diesel-this would be a much easier decision then since the pricing would be closer.
What about the GR2100-If I read right it's got a wet disk type PTO clutch and shaft drive on the deck, and shaft driven HST-is this right? The G2160 has a shaft driven HST,and a shaft driven deck with a belt tension clutch setup of some kind on the front that drives the PTO shaft. I can pick up either of those for right around $6900,but it's really, really difficult for me to justify the extreme cost difference for the shaft drives.
* For not alot more I can get a BX1850...and that's alot more machine.
Any input is appreciated.

*Exactly why I replaced a CC Gt2554 with this.

1*I bought 2 kubotas as back ups for my BX23.

The one with the front blade is used .
The one with a trailer hooked to it is new.
They sure beat lawn or garden tractors.
2*I didn't like that idea either so now I don't use the Bolens or Cub Cadet gas tractors which justified my setting up a pump and diesel drum.

At least down here it would be sheer luck to find a Kubota diesel lawn tractor. Would love to have one as my old JD 285 doesn't have that many more hours on her.

I need a pto clutch for my tg 1860 I dont have the money right now to pay 340.00 for it. Is there other brand mowers it is on . beside Kubota my is a diesel

My TG1860 PTO will not engage when hot. Could this be my clutch or some type of relay? It would usually engage after I hit a big bump. Any ideas?

those electric clutches are problematic and kubota got away from them, easy to replace painful to buy, if it does not engage after cutting and stopping briefly, get a new clutch,

btw service your hyrastatic, the Kubota dealer here said it was sealed and not servicable, BUNK, do a search and ignore what you find except for where things are geograpically on the machine, the hydrastatic has a screen that gets clogged, if left too long will ruin it, after I cleaned my screen it worked fine, we are just praying the dealers poor advice did not make us wait too long to perform this essential task, the proper fluid is 20w50 motor oil not hydraulic like the dealer says, the proper level is 10mm below the oil fill hole, running out is over full, i did notice that running out while jacked up ends up being just a touch lower than the 10mm once leveled up, before I cleaned the filter it whined and would not go up a hill, even the whine is gone now, trick to this whole process was to have a flat steel band about 1 inch or so wide (packing strap steel is great) handy to hold the spring check ball and filter up while I put the plate on and then yank band out, prior to this operation use very little of the proper high temp silicone, add sealer at exit point of the band and tighten it up, oh yea the filter o rings and check ball want to fall out so the band is to hold them up, put a very small amount of sticky grease on the orings to hold them in place, after that you MUST run the hydrastatic thru the gears so to speak, I did this for about 15 mins and was successful at getting the air out and correcting a non functioning hydrastaic on my TG1860 diesel. I am only disappointed that I see so many posts from days gone by where others got poor advice, make me want to yell this message from a mountain top, I have to say many thanks to Dennis at the Georgia Kubota factory for preventing me from following irresponsible advice from the dealer here in Maryland. You will not find directions on this process in the service manual or owners manual.
