it,s funny how harley has come out with a liquid cooled cafe/cruiser. engine design with the help of the germans. the japs are copying the americans and the americans are copying the japs......its all about freedom of choice and i consider any brand a motorcycle as long as it has two wheels ....tgello

I'm not up on any of the motorcycles for many years now. Back when I was 17 me and a 550 Triumph parted company on a gravel road at about 60 MPH. After two weeks in hospital and a month or two of limping lost all interest in powered two wheel transportation.

The reason Jap bikes loose their value so quickly unlike bikes from Harley and also Ducatii is that the Japanese obsolete their models very quickly. Harley and Ducatii are still powering their bikes with engines designed more than a few years ago--though incorporating new technology where possible--such as from Porche now for Harley. Also there is a strong resemblence model year to model year and the bikes evolve more than are replaced like the Japanese do so often. I do admit that if the yardstick of performance or quality is the poundage of chrome then Harley wins. Thankfully Kubota use chrome sparingly and tastfully--the hood ornament. J

Okay, thins is one thing I never under stood. I know the black tee shirt thing looks cool but it also makes you bake in the sun. Heck, in Tucson they make their motor officers wear black.....IT'S NUTS! I guess I was the only one who would buy my Harley Tees in any other color but black. Of course, there was usually a better selection that way./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I agree about the heat factor.

Maybe the climate has something to do w/it???

Up in these parts riding thru the White Mountains into Maine than long the coast it can get chilly at times, and when the temps are low in the morning also start to drop along w/the sun...plus the windchill...one sure glad he or she got black on to catch the sun rays,to keep warm and the noise from running.

Or maybe from my better halfs point of view..it's gotta be a man thing. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Color doesn't make a differents to me..just comfort, for I was made for comfort not speed. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Comfort.....absolutely!!! I also don't get the no helmet crowd. I get that it's more comfortable on a nice day. What I don't get is when the temp gets down below 50 degrees. They come riding along with their face so red you swear their head was gonna explode. They can't be enjoying that, can they? I remember one time being out in Detroit when we were so desparate to ride that it started to snow. Of course, I had my full face helmet with one of those things you put over your head that went down into your jacket. With that it was pretty tolerable. I sure do miss it!! My '66 Triumph just isn't the same./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif We had a great HOG chapter in Michigan. All of our rides were geared around where we were gonna eat next. What was that Jay Leno said....."In L.A. I'm considered fat, but when I'm around Harley people I'm thin". Once we moved away it seems that all we found was the where are we gonna drink next. Bikes and Booze....not a good mixture.
