Ruffled Grouse do too.

You showed a lot more paitence than I would have. After the first time it attacked me, I would have been having grouse for supper. I like to wrap bacon strips around them and put them on the rotissery on my gas grill.

Dang, didn't mean to insult anyone. But I think the harley/kubota comparison might be purty acurate. Both are heavy duty and quality. I think if harley made a tractor... well anyway, got the bx2200 today. just had to try it out in the yard. I had a area that needed cut, so off I went. With all the rain we had got, the ground was pretty wet. My cub would have went right over it, without much mess, didn't realize how heavy the bx is... sunk about 3 inches my first pass. Man I almost cried. my brand new Kubota slinging mud (ag tires) I was afraid to slow down, so I killed the PTO and kept chugging through. I got out alright, but the bota... looked like well, a tractor. I spent the next 2 hours washing it. I did find some grass to cut, and it did a great job. very smooth. Cant wait to cut the grass again! Never said that before.

The mech who went over the controls with me said to run it full throttle all the time, that a diesel needs that. Regardless, I'm going to vary the power setting's, full throttle all the time on a brand new engine cant be good, anyone ever hear of such a thing?

* I'm in jefferson county, 10 miles north of Steubenville.

* I hope I can get 50 years out of the kubota. Will prolly need help getting in the saddle, though.

* And yes, 8 years without a problem on the Harley. 1994 Dyna-wide glide convertible. 13,000 miles.

ps. Waxed the kubota after i washed it, that Harley glaze sure makes that orange shine!

MOC, I hate to dissagree with your mechanic but he is incorrect. While it is not good to idle and allow soot to build up or to run the engine so slow it does not warm up which is not a problem with the BX or so slow it lugs (labors), running wide open is not only bad for the ears but it will put uneeded wear on the engine. If you read the manual that came with the loader, for example, you will see that KUBOTA says to run the engine at approximately 1800 to 2200 RPM which on the BX is about 1/2 throttle or a touch. Mowing can be done at any speed of 1/2 throttle and up to PTO speed which is wide open and then backed off a little bit. The best cut will be achieved at PTO speed but I usually ran below PTO speed and got a good cut and lot's less noise. DO NOT run your BX wide open all the time--that is silly hogwash. Diesels do like to run at correct temperature and that is why Kubota says to allow it to warm up and that is also why it has a thermostat in the cooling system so it stays warm.
PS--Harleys ain't no deal--the Duke is king (Ducatti) and you meet the nicest people on a Honda etc. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif .
Second PS--Yeppers, the porky little BX will sink right in but that weight is a good thing but as hard as it will be you better stay off the lawn when it is wet and soft. J

Congrats on the purchase,
I originally wanted something that my wife would like but now it's kind of like my Harley (2001 Heritage) she does not touch it unless I am there.
PS Let me know if you find any aftermarket chrome for the Kubota./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

My wife is just glad I got rid of the Kawalski. When I did that she had no problems with the Kubota.
As for the Hog, she knows there is a line that shall not be crossed-and did not even say a word when I bought my snort an new DVD for his playroom!

I guess your up by having another cup looking foreward to somemore seat time today, and congrats on your new BX2200. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I think you shall find the BX not as loud as a Harley, and you don't have to out your feet on the ground everytime you stop. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Nope, never owned a Harley; only Zundapp, Yamaha, Honda, and BMW. I've ridden a cousin's Harley, and Harley even threatened to sue me years ago when I wouldn't buy their junk for the police department. I told'em to give it their best shot, and never heard from them again./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I've heard, both here and other places, that they might be building a pretty decent bike now.

Negative, the orange machine ain't the Harley of tractors...

The Green machine is....gotta be, only Harley and Deere make as much money (or more) selling toys, shirts and such; as they do selling their primary product line.

There's a Deere store in York, PA. They don't sell tractors, implements..nothing like that. All clothing and toys...

And Harley (built in York, by the way...expanding their plant here now)...well, we all seen the Harley paraphenalia.

Nope, never owned a Harley; only Zundapp, Yamaha, Honda, and BMW
Bird...

What, no Moto Guzzies?

I have to agree with Roy on this one. While they are both fine machines, you pay extra for having the name.
