Kubota "Throw away tractor"?

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

I bought both my Kubotas from a dealer who was 50 miles from my house in Texas; never considered that a problem. Besides, that's a nice drive from Wasilla to Anchorage (or at least I thought so the last time I was there in '91). /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

See what I meant about a separate thread? These guys jump right on them with plenty of advice - some worth more than you pay for it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree that the blue salesman sounds very unprofessional. I own blue, but only because I really liked the dealer/salesman and he worked hard to find a used tractor within my price range and size requirements. I was ready to buy a Kubota until the NH dealer called with my deal.

My only concern about parts for any of the major brand names would be your Alaska location. You surely want to find a dealer you like and can trust, unless you are comfortable with mail ordering and installing your own parts (not very feasible during warranty). I have a friend with a very old Kubota, which hasn't reguired much repair in over 15 years. He says it does take a little longer to get parts, now that the tractor is older, but he has still managed to get anything he needed.

Work out exactly what you will be using the tractor for and size it according to those needs. Then, find a dealer who you like and can trust to steer you right. It is worth paying a few dollars more for peace of mind, knowing that the dealer will provide good support when you need it.

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

My first Kubota was a B1750. I kept it three years and put 800 hours on it...before selling it for more than the original purchase price. Hardly a throw away!

For the salesman to say that tells me he is a TWIT.

That Weren't Intelligent Talking. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

No personal experience to offer-

But the closest tractor dealership to me is Sacramento For Tractors. Figure out where to put a "d" in that middle word and you know what line they represented for many years.

Needless to say, they are now a NH dealer, with a big blue sign out front. And what is their primary line? Kubota . I'm no expert, but I suspect that they might know something...

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

I wouldn't trade my 2 year old B7500 for a new blue in the same size catagory. I see lots of older Kubotas out there working away.

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

My wife's uncle has a 16 year old Kubota with a lot of hours on it. It has never been in the shop for repairs. The only thing that he does to it is change oil and filters. His only gripe is that the rollers on his mmm deck are worn out and he said that the Kubota dealer wants a fortune to replace them (not sure how much a fortune is). I offered to buy it from him but he would not part with it. He is not throwing his Bota away; he won't even sell it!

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

Hmmm,

All I can say is it is a global economy. If you need a part you can get a part.

I would try and visit more dealers and see where you find a good comfort factor.

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

Yea, roger that on the global economy. I am currently looking at buying in the Seattle area and shipping to Anchorage. Even with the freight charge I am 2k better off. There are several companies there and more competition I suppose.

Re: Kubota \"Throw away tractor\"?

I remember back before Desert Storm when it was still considered halfway safe in Saudi, I read somewhere these sheiks would be driving a big Mercedes or a Rolls and if it broke down on the side of the road they would just abandon it in the desert where it sat and go buy a new one. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I always starting a vehicle reclamation service could be a good business over there. You know, drive around until you see one, get the license # off the car, go call up shiek so and so's office and offer him $1,000 bucks for the title to his piece of junk. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Then export them to the US or Europe.
