Kubota Tractor tool kit recommendations?

WOW!!!! where do you live?? I will check out sears. I mentioned northern tool because they offer a Jumbo wrench set, I do not know what 20mm equates to.
I am a carpenter by trade, but I also do alot of wrenching on the side. A buddy of mine has alot of northern tools, he likes them and hasn't had many break that I know of. I just suggested Craftsman since they are more plentiful than Northern stores. 20mm is just a hair bigger than 3/4".

As for getting a good torque wrench, look on Ebay. I have bought a few of mine off there, all are Snap-On and I never paid over $85 for any of them. I paid $85 including shipping for my 1/2" Snappy clicker with 200lbft capacity.

I think this might be what you have, Crescent 10" Adjustable Construction Spud Wrench. Iron workers use wrenches with a similar end.

That's it, but mine's bigger  15" or so. It rides around in the pickup in a waterproof tool box. Handy in the field.

Thanks for the info,
Z.

I have been using my adjustable wrench a lot on a B7800/--L3700 ? I would like to purchase a torque wrench and some large wrenches maybe a socket or two from northern tool. Do I need metric or standard also any specific sizes ? I have a grease gun.

You will need metric and standard wrenches and sockets for those machines. Everything that bolts directly to the tractor will be metric. The loaders except for the frame parts that bolt to the tractor will be standard.

In metric wrenches you shouldn't need anything larger than 24mm, in standard up to 1 inch should be fine and 1 1/4" or 1 5/16" combination wrenches or 1/2" drive sockets for the pins on the box scrapers or other implements if you have them. I also prefer 6-point sockets, in 3/8" drive up to 19mm and 3/4", and 1/2" drive from 14mm up and 9/16" up.

Unless you feel like you need to do engine work, a 1/2" drive click type torque wrench will fill most of your needs, primarily checking wheel torque and possibly loader bolts.

I think I might have more invested in tools than the cost of all of the vehicles I've owned combined.

I'm a walking advertisment for Craftsman tools. Sears loves to see me in their tool department. As stated earlier, a basic tool set in 3/8 & 1/2 with both metric and SAE will work fine. And, buying Craftsman hand tools in sets is really cost effective, especially when they are on sale.

Also, never tell your wife you have enough tools--that's a suicide mission! My wife never looks in my tool chest unless she needs a tool to use, but doesn't complain when I have what she needs to get the job done. I just tell her that's forward thinking on my part.

Sears has some good tool sales between Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Resist the temptation to use an SAE (inch measurements) wrench or socket on a metric fastener. Never use a crescent wrench or vice grips on a bolt or nut unless it's already loose--the risk of rounding the corners off is very real. A couple of cross-overs that are easy to remember: 3/4" is interchangeable with 19mm; 7/16" with 11mm, and 1 1/8 with 22mm. Except for those (and their multiples) using an SAE wrench on a metric fastener (or vice versa) is asking for more trouble than you can believe. all you need is one big fat bolt that's hard to get to, rounded off and stuck, and you'll want to tear your hair out. DAMHIKT.

I have a LOT of tools (both hand and power) but most of the time I'm using 12 point 3/8" deep sockets (Craftsman or Snap-on) and long combo wrenches. If I really have to hurk on something, I'll use a 1/2" socket with a long breaker bar. I have a small set of 3/4" drive SAE sockets for stuff like the spindle nut on my bush hog, but I use maybe once every 2 years.

The other two tools I use a lot is a large bench vise and a bench grinder with a wire wheel on one side. the wheel is great for cleaning the threads on bolts before I reassemble them.

Hope this helps.

There are more interchanges than that.

5/16-8mm are almost exact. 1/2 is just a hair smaller than 13mm, so if you are worried about rounding a 13mm, see if a 1/2 will fit, 90 % of the itme it will.

14 and 9/16 are very close, 5/8 and 16mm are almost exact.

In general it is not a good Idea to grab SAE wrenches for metric bolts and vice verse. BUT, I will always use the wrench that fits the best. Sometimes that is a 1/2 instead of a 13mm on a metric fastner. Etc.

I picked up something similar from TSC the other day - although it's probably 16" long overall. It stays in the toolbox behind the tractor's seat and gets a lot of use. Also in there are an assortment of lynch pins and top link pins for whenever one goes missing.
In the garage I have the same 3/8 SK socket set I bought in 1975 and a lot of other stuff that sort of found their way here in the mean time. I can't overstate the importance of having a good collection of quality screwdrivers of various configurations, drifts, punches, shim gages, torqx and allen drive sockets. Also 3/8 drive and a 3/4 drive torque wrenches (still looking for a good 1/4 drive for that fussy stuff). Enough hammers of assorted sizes and shapes to fill the trunk of a '71 Fury III. 3 anvils. A block and fall. 300' of 5/8 polyester double weave and 2 snatch blocks to fit. 60' of 1" nylon & snatch block to fit. It's a sickness. Run away before you catch it!

I would suggest that you go to Sears and buy a 200 or so piece Craftsman set. It will have most of the things that you will need for repairs, plus its lifetime warrantied.

I've recently been convinced to at least consider no longer bothering with Sears tools. Their sockets are very junky anymore, I suppose because the accountants determined that it was more cost effective to increase their replacement rate and decrease quality than it was to maintain the same quality they used to have.

I would be lying if I said I never used a 17mm on a 11/16" or 19mm on a 3/4". You almost always find a metric size that will work on an SAE fastener. It's not always true the other way around, like 10, 12, and 15 mm, gotta have the correct size wrench or socket.

It is best to use the correct size to avoid damage to the nut or bolt.

Another must have is a good quality (no china tools) flare nut wrench set. When dealing with hydraulic hoses and other lines they are the best tool to avoid damage to the fitting on the line.
