Just purchased a JD 2305 with 62C MM mower, and I have found the blades to be of inferior harden metal. I was using a Kubota BX2200 with 60 MM mower, had hit all kinds of rocks and never really hurt the blades. I tried the same with my JD mower and really dinged the blades bad, not even hitting as many rocks. Please do not get me wrong, I love JD, but I think they are using inferior harden metal for blades.

Question for the group: Are there any after market blades I can substitute for these JD blades?

Thank you all

Ed

I have a 72" Kubota and a 60" JD. The blades on the JD are as good as the Kubota blades. The JD is a 7 Iron model. Is your mower a 7 Iron?

Not sure what a 7 iron is. What 60" JD do you have, and what tractor?

I have a F735 front mower. 7 Iron mowers are JD's commercial mowers. I checked their site. Thought they offered it for the 2000 series tractors. But they offer it on the 3000 series on up. There are some after market blades that should last longer. Check out Gator blades.

So what you're saying is that 2000 series are inferior to the 3000 series tractors, with regards to blades...humm that is interesting. Please forward to me where you read that. I will check out the Gator Blades too.

Thank you

I did not say they are inferior. I said that the 7 Iron mowers are not available for the 2000 series. If you go to JD's site and click on attachments for the 2000 series you will get a list of attachment for all models of Utility Tractors. The 7 Iron is not check on the 2000 series tractors. Switch over to 3000 series and they are checked. http://www.deere.com/en_US/ProductCatalog/GC/servlet/ProductAttachments?tM=GC&pNbr=0140LV

I understand, I did go to JD and read that, but I must infer that the blades are not as thick metal on the 62C, as to the 7 Iron, although I could be wrong.. I will look into it more. Thank you for the responses. I will see if I can find a Gator blade that is better. The blades I have on my 62C deck ding way to easy, there must be something better!

Maybe someone else will come up with the place to buy heavier blades. Their was a thread on the subject a year or so ago. I could not find it today.:(

I sure hope someone will read this and give me some direction in finding aftermarket blades, better than what I have now.

Thanks

I don't think you'll want gator blades if you're hitting lots of rocks. They have little "wings" on the blade to re-direct the airflow back under the deck which creates a mulching effect. Those wings, I would imagine, would get wrecked pretty quick if you hit lots of rocks.

Good Luck!
