kubota vs. Kioti?

   / kubota vs. Kioti? #172
I was talking with a guy and he said to go with a Kubota because ect ect ect lol. He mentioned the front axle on the Kubota's were (if I can remember what he called them lol) universal joints mabe??? Don't know the correct terms haha. He said make sure I get a tractor that has the same as Kubota. Are the Kubota's and the Kioti's the same when it comes to the front axle type, style?
Also when I was testing the Kioti the dealer showed me that the front loader had the float (rides along the ground I guess??). He pushed the loader handle forward and it went right to just above the ground.mwhen I was testing the Kubota I asked the dealer if it had the float also and he said yes but when I pushed the loader handle forward it wasn't like the Kioti and I don't really know what I'm doing and the was about four inches of know on the ground do I'm not sure if the bucket was riding just above the ground. So my question is does the Kubota have the float with the front end loader?

Both the Kubota & Kioti are going to have the same float. When you push the valve into float, it dumps both ends of the lift cylinders to tank. The loader arms will drop until something is on the ground. Depending on how the bucket is tipped or the brackets on the back of the bucket, it may look a little different, but functionality will be 98% the same. All float does is removes the ability of the main lift cylinders to support any kind of weight. The weight of the arms, bucket & whatever is in the bucket will push the arms down. Handy for parking the tractor so things don't get ugly if a hose breaks (the whole arm would come crashing down) and for back dragging to smooth or finish some ground.

What do you plan on doing with it? the FEL on the DK can lift 2700lbs.

We are selling our home and will be buying a new home with more land. I will be burning wood so I will need a tractor to handle full logs. Not sure what we will buy for a new home but it won't be anything under 10 acres and hopefully mostly wooded. The tractor will be used for everything I can use it for that I won't have to physically do. Really I should wait until we buy a new home BUT I want to buy now before I don't have the option not to go with the new emissions tractors.

There is a difference in the Kubota and Kioti float. Not much and not very important, but a difference. If you have the lift up and push the Kubota into float, you will hear a hissing sound and the Kubota lift will come down at a slower rate than the Kioti. The Kioti will not hiss and the lift will drop rapidly. They will both contact the ground with a pressure relative to whatever the arms/cylinders SSQA and bucket or other implement weighs. Very handy for backdragging and smoothing materiel and other uses. The bucket will "float" up over most obstruction, like a rock for instance unless you are careless and set the angle too steep or it is just too high. Sales people will often say darn near anything to make a sale so his children can eat that night. Take anything most sales guys say with a large dose of ...well whatever.

Outside of mowers, I have only owned Kubota tractors. I bought a B 5200 back in 1984 and now own 3 Kubotas two BXs and and an L. Never heard of Kioti but after reading this thread I will have a look at them. Resale of the Kubota is quite good. I sold my B 5200 for more than I paid for it, although in current dollars. Will the Kioti hold that kind of value? If so, it seems a good deal given what I have read in terms of the premium Kubota charges for similar performance/features.

Interesting, I didn't think you could drop it into the float position and it will come down slower.
