Kubota vs. Kioti

   / Kubota vs. Kioti #11
They are different machines made in different countries. Kubota has been around longer and has earned a very good time honored reputation. Kubota basically defined the CUT class. The Kioti has a growing following and seems to be a quality made machine also. I tested both out and found positives and negatives on both, surprisingly the B7510 priced out better than the CK20 in my area and Kioti had no model to challenge the BX23.

The Kioti generally weighs in heavier which can be a negative in finish mowing but a positive in dragging a plow.

While looking at the Kioti the dealer ruined them for me, he would not even return my call.

There are good and bad dealers with every brand. I have a blue tractor, but don't really care for the dealer I purchased from. Since then, I go to another dealer for my needs and I have been happy with them.

I wouldn't give up on Kioti without looking at another dealer, but I'd look around at dealers of some other brands you are interested in too.

As a Kioti owner, lets remember the history here. At one time, Kubota was just a small player in a market that belonged to JD/NH, etc...now there one of the leaders and the others have fallen off. Size alone does not determine the companys sucess (see GM) but the strength of there offerings compared to the competition. You are correct, Kioti is a small player now...lets see in a few years as the brand gets established and better known to the market.

Before we purchased the larger piece of land, we had a deposit on the 3054XS TLB.

I have an L39 now. Kioti is a deccent machine, heavy built, . The paint and trim and pits & pieces on a Kubota seem the best in the industry.

The Koiti DK45S & up seem like great machines.
Koiti lacks a seroius Back Hoe machine.

This is just my view. Any company that deliberately tries to impersonate another with what is called their " trade dress" is not trying to build on their own merits but on the merits of the other. Trying to gain an unfair advantage through deceit is not my idea of honest business.
They look so close in color someone who is not well versed on the two would automatically assume the Kioti is the better known Kubota. Infact this thread started with the thought of the two being the same or not.
I have gone into the TSC store in my area and asked for a cross reference for my Kubota oil filter and the same statement from the clerk came up..........." Well Kioti and Kubota are the same machine" .........I set him strait on his view.
That being said, I looked very close at the Koiti machines at our last state fair just to see. They look to be very well made and thought out engineering wise. Then I happen to be driving by their dealership sometime later, and that finished of anything that the machine may have done to impress me.

I'll stay with my Kubota.

I own a Mahindra 6000 4WD and have just made a deal on a Kioti DK55C. With that out of the way.

Several years ago Hyundai was dismissed in the market as not being substantial. Kia, another Korean make, was also not taken seriously. Both now have very formidable products and dealers(have you seen the facilities these guys are building?). I think if you look at the features on the Kiotis you find they have an excellent set. Adjustable links on the 3pt, dual remotes and power outlet, 3 pt control accessable outside the cab, and many other ergonomic features. I've been very happy with the Mahindra as well.

I think competition and a vibrant market is good for us all. I like the Massey(Iseki built) machines as well. As products proliferate dealers will become stronger - each market will be different, but I like what is happening in the market - I wouldn't count out the Korean, or even the Chinese as future formidable competitors.

This is not entirly true. The market for compact tractors has really only exploded in the last 10 years or so. Prior to this what Deere and NH where selling was small AG and Utility machines that where never marketed towards your acerage owner, hobby farmer, etc. Most industry people will credit Kubota with creating the market for compact and especialy subcompact tractors. Now in the larger equipment industry companies come and go on an alarming basis. Part of the appeal of Deere is that they have largly existed without being purchased and sold like NH, Case, and all your AGCO brands.

There is a real concern that eventually the market for this size equipment is going to saturate and the customer base is going dry up. Its easy for a new company to get a foot hold in a growing market, but really difficult to stay once it starts to colapse. Thats part of the reason why you see rapid diversification like LG Montana selling zero turns.
