( As a Kioti owner, lets remember the history here. At one time, Kubota was just a small player in a market that belonged to JD/NH, etc...now there one of the leaders and the others have fallen off. Size alone does not determine the companys sucess (see GM) but the strength of there offerings compared to the competition. You are correct, Kioti is a small player now...lets see in a few years as the brand gets established and better known to the market. )
If we want to bring up history, then we should do so in an accurate way.
Kioti, Mahindra, Montana, etc are all small players in what is currently a well established compact utility tractor market.
However, when Kubota entered the fray, there was virtually no such thing as a compact utility tractor as we know them today. There were small farm tractors but they were not well suited to the tasks of small land owners, hobby farmers, etc. Kubota actually built the CUT market because it defined the market. Kubota did not take the market away from JD/NH because those companies were really not serving that market niche. Yes, they did have some smaller tractors, but again, those smaller tractors were not the equivalent of the machines that Kubota brought into the market. Further, Kubota marketed their machines to the hobby farmers, to the mini-estate owners, etc. JD/NH were out selling their equipment to real farmers and focusing their efforts on agricultural dealerships which serviced farmers.
The market today is MUCH different than the market of 30 years ago. To suggest that because Kubota was small and now dominates, cannot be used as a valid comparision to the growth of any other minor brand today. But if I had to bet on one of the brand, it seems like Mahindra has the most capital and widest selection of machines to cover the market. The other brands are currently lacking in comparison to Mahindra, and Mahindra is still lacking compared to Kubota in their smaller machine selection.
