I really wish I could see the video (with sound) cause it seems this thread has become VERY active.

I guess I cannot comment much because the "hotel" computer doesnt have speakers:mur:

But from what some of you said about the video:confused2:

Mahindradon,

I commend your passion for your brand. I guess if you were as professional as you say then you would not have compared a 10+yr old unit to your brand new one. Second, I find your video that you made in your basement extremely unprofessional. As a dealer this is how you promote your business? Third, I actually checked out a local Mahindra "dealer" who could not give me very much info at all except handing me a flyer containing a picture and some specs. He then was very quick to get back to whatever he was doing behind the counter. I guess this is how Mahindra trained all it's dealers/salespersons??? My Kubota dealer didn't bash any brand but asked me what I was looking for and then was very quick to offer a test drive and then proceeded to take me around the dealership show me the facility and then give me info and let the machine sell itself. I suggest that you should channel your passion and talk to Mahindra about helping to make a quality video that can promote your equipment.

What is a tractor without a cupholder?
Edit: Or, is a tractor without a cupholder still a tractor?
The first version is right at least in ag tractors. Either that or there are a lot of huge machines out there we can't call tractors.

While I was in the market for a tractor larger than those in the video, I experienced something similar to the MahindraDon video first hand from a NH/Mahindra dealer. The salesman seemed to know way more about Kubotas and why they were inferior than about the features of his own product. He spent more time telling what turned out to be fabrications about Kubota than telling advantages of the NHs and Manindras on his lot. My experience in looking at Mahindras was that they were were kind of crude in engineering. Things like the parking brake were not refined or well manufactured. Maybe that has changed in the last couple of years.

It used to be sales people focused on selling their product rather than downing someone else's

I have a rule of thumb when I shop for "stuff". If the sales person feels the need to bash the other guy, I will not buy from him no matter what. Its just that simple. Point out the differences factually, but no put downs of the other guy! Let me decide.

I see it this way:

Would it be fair compare an older gen 1 or gen 2 Dodge Ram with a new Superduty? Of course not. Just like it wouldn't be much of a comparison between a new Ram with a mid 90 s Ford p/u. Who this guy trying to kid? I think Mahindra makes good tractors. But, when you see someone try so hard to make a convincing argument for their product, and they do it in such slanted fashion, you have to wonder what's up. Why didn't he use a new Kubota???

Yea, I heard of someone with a brand new shiny Kia that would totally blow away any 93 Civic that you throw at it....wait a minute...maybe not so much but it definitely has better styling!
You would think someone woulda seen this criticism coming before posting a video such as that!!

Greetings GSMANEELEY. I live in Jamesville NY, and I suspect we went to the same dealer just off 81 in,,,, Cicero I believe. But your description of this dealer matched up PERFECTLY with my impression. He claims to have sold 50 units in 2012. I don't know if that was all tractors, or if he was talking about just MAX series. We were specifically talking about the MAX 25 when he made this comment, but what ever. The point is he didn't know how to attach a backhoe to the tractor. Claims hes never done it as no one wants one when they buy the tractor. So he didn't know how easy or not easy it was to take on and off. And his lack of knowledge did not end with the Backhoe. All this while being Very dismissive of other brands and attachments. And you are right, seems like he could not get back behind the counter fast enough. Between him and dandy Don, and the primitive nature of the tractor itself, it pretty much cured me of ever considering a Mahindra,,, EVER.

Singalo,

I am glad it wasn't just me. I thought maybe he just didn't like the checkbook hanging out of my pocket with a pen dripping of ink wanting to buy. How you like your GC? I was really looking hard at the 2300/2400 series and went with the Kubota because of the dealer (Watertown)

I actually Don't have the GC yet. The wife and I were all set to buy a house about 2 years ago. That's when I started what turned out to be a spiritual voyage that was Shopping for a SCUT. Unfortunately the house we were going to buy fell through at the last moment. I was actually looking at the GC 2410 at the time. Fast forward, and we closed on the house we now call home in Nov 2012. With that deal sealed, my search started some what anew. I talked with even more people then I had previously, and looked at several more options that were not in the SCUT class, including the MAX 25. But after talking to many dealers, test driving, and multiple trips to these dealers looking over the tractors, I am right back where I started. Slightly more knowledgeable, and confident in my original decision. I should be picking the GC1710 up in APRIL of this year, just in time for spring and a full summer of Land clearing, hole digging, tree planting and gardening. I will be spending a whole lot of my free time in the seat of this tractor, or else fighting my wife off with swords and shields for it. I already have my first Tractor Mod planed out. I plan on getting a Fiberglass canopy and then having a guy that does boat vinyl create CAB walls. I saw a guy on this forum in fact that I got the idea from. His worked out just fantastic. Snow Cab for under $1200? Yes please. I plan on posting many pictures of the work being done along with verbose commentary. But I am certain you picked up on that already. =)
