Buying Advice Kubota Web Site / Build My Kubota

I was able to buy at the “old” price according to my dealer. He said the unit had been on the lot for almost 8 months and there had been two price increases. He said he could sell that unit at the “old” price. I shopped around and could not beat his price.

That's the way it works.

Kubota wholegoods are invoiced to dealers before the truck leaves the distribution center. If a price increase is announced for date X, invoices written before that date reflect "old" pricing. Terms and conditions of the invoicing vary, but the pricing is locked in when the invoice is generated.

Bingo.

Equipment that has remained in dealer inventory for months often has an additional Kubota aged inventory incentive added in order to help move it. Some dealers will pass this onto the end buyer while others will not. Be sure to ask, ESPECIALLY, if your dealer tries to sell you a machine from another dealer rather than one ordered directly from Kubota.

IIRC, Kubota operates on an October to September fiscal year as does the automotive industry.Price increases can occur at any time (usually at the beginning of (any) month, though Jan 01 increases are common.

Aside from the supply shortage, late in the calenday year is usually a good time to shop as Kubota sales managers often toss in a bit more incentive cash late in the year. Though I have no crystal ball, I would be shopping now if in the market.

Thanks. Nice to know I got accurate information from the salesman. I actually wanted a 4760 but got a 5460. The salesman looked and couldn’t find a 4760 under the old price making the 5460 less than a 4760.

I just completed a build your own for a B2601. The base price Kubota listed is $16, 025. My dealer in central Virginia has quoted me $15,500.

So a bit off, but from what people say on these boards it seems the dealer's price to me could easily be $15,000. What influences these things? How can I find out or negotiate. I mean literally, do I say, "I will pay XXXXX"?

On most options he is a little high. I have been focusing there. Small example but how these things add up: he quotes a manual Land Pride front 5' blade at $1,820. The manufacturer's suggested price for it on the web quote is $1,753. So only $67, but that adds up over several implements.

On the other hand, would I be better to work harder on getting another $500 off the tractor? I don't know how motivated he is to sell or, yet, what they have in stock. This dealer is 2 hours from me but they are getting ready to open a big branch in my town.

I bought my latest Kubota a year and a half ago. Same dealer as my other ones. In all cases where I've bought there, I had done the diligence and figured out the MSRP [web site] pre-selection of what I wanted. Then I go in to the dealer and we sit at he looks up everything and hmmmms and scratches and gives me a price. It is, or has been so far, several thousand less than what I came up with online.

Also, Kubota was again running an interest-free financing thing, I think for 60 months, don't quote me, and I asked whether there'd be a discount if I paid cash. He said how about a thousand bucks? I did it, and that much more came off the price.

My dealer was offering about 11% of msrp with the 0% financing. I tried another dealer and about the same. I found out I'd qualify for the equine discount and took that route.

Is there a list somewhere of what organizations qualify for the equine discount? The only information I could find off the Kubota web site was "the National Cutting Horse Association and other qualifying national or regional equine organizations."

The website refers to ACHA specifically and says others may qualify but doesn't name them. You can get a membership free for a year on the ACHA website. Then call Linda in their office and ask her to send you a pdf showing your membership. They don't do hard copy cards anymore but it is an official letter about the organization and membership with your info at the bottom.

One thing I wonder about, and can't remember if I've already asked it here, is whether using the equine discount wipes out the $700 rebate Kubota is now offering on implements?
