True or false. Kubotas today are not the quality they were 5 or more years ago. I keep hearing this but don't know if it is true or not. Is it?

I suppose you could make that statement about anything in general . Personally I'm not what I used to be 5-10 years ago ......
What is it that you hear isn't up to spec RE 5 years ago VS now ?

I've never heard anything like that. There may be something there but like the previous posted said... I'd like to know specifics.

Could you expand a little on what you have heard. Where are you hearing this? I use a 1991 L4850 and a 2003 L3830. While there are differences to be sure, I have found much on the L3830 to be more refined. The loader is built comparable for the given sizes of the two tractors but the L3830's removes so much easier. The L3830 has a much quieter engine but is a 3 cylinder compared to the L4850's 5 cylinders. Can't compare transmissions as HST was not available on the L4850 but the shuttle is and they are comparable except the L4850 has a wet clutch. Perhaps some specific models could be pointed out. My 1963 GMC had more steel in it then my 1993 Ford F250 so you could say it is not what used to be but then, I'm happy for that. I have over 200K on my Ford, my old gas V6 3/4 ton's engine was rebuilt 2 times in that mileage time frame.

I'd say the exact opposite. I look at older tractors all the time and the newer Kubotas are better sized, more well thought out, and better engineered than the older ones. Everytime I have seem them release a new model its done for a functional reason and not to try and increase their profit margin.

HUH? I'm not color blinded toward Kubota, but I've got one of their tractors. I've also got a New Holland. While my favorite is not the Kubota, I will say the Kubota is virtually bullet proof. It has never needed any sort of a repair. It runs incredibly smoothly and functions flawlessly. In 4 years it has started every time and operated without fail. I have seen nothing at all to indicate the statement you made to be remotely close to true. And as I look over all the new models when they arrive at the dealership, I see them IMPROVING their machines in many little ways. They are the market leader for a reason, quality.

Actually, quality and performance have improved tremendously over the last five years, exactly 100% the reverse of what you have been hearing..... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I can't recall where for the life of me, but I do think I did see some small blurb somewhere on the internet that mentioned that with the introduction of the new LXX30 series tractors, Kubota had a small increase in initial problems with that particular new series over the previous LXX10 series.
I found that when I was having a problem with the new 5030 I bought and was scouring the internet to see if others had similar problems. I did not find anything to alarm me or to even make me think that a lot of other people were experiencing the issue I had. Kubota fixed my tractor (FEL hydro issue) and all is well now. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think just about any tractor maker can have a blip on initial complaints with a new model; I know automakers do.
Based upon my experience with owning two new and one used Kubota is that I'd definitely consider Kubota for my next tractor, but as in the past, will look at and consider other makes as well.
