Hey would anyone know what the minimum HP requirement would be to safely run a kuhn fc 243 discbine? And what are some thoughts on this particular unit?

Kuhn recommends 60 if you get into hills 80 would be better.

I also highly recommend a cab tractor. Anywhere from once every 12-24 months our cab gets hit by a rock/stone. It's not hard to do when you run over a woodchuck hole hidden in tall grass. I know of a couple of tractors that a window was broken from thing coming out from the cutter bar. These were all newer discbines with a full curtain in front.

I also know many who say it's not needed, but its their choice.

I have one and we mow with a JD5205 that has about 48 PTO HP In heavy grass mowing up hill I can only go about 5 mph. Usually I mow at about 7. It works great for us.

Awesome thanks. I have a Ford 5610 which has 62hp and I also have a jd 3150 around 96hp but I was wanting one that I could mow with the 5610 for better fuel cost. The more I run the 6cyl the more it eats at my pockets.

I have a 243 that runs behind a TT75A, 62 PTO hp. We got some pretty good hills and I've never felt I needed more power.

I definitely agree that a cab would be nice, but lots of people run discbines w/o a cab. Keep the front curtain in good shape!
