Tractor Sizing L-series what size

Jim the N. H. dealer thats close to me is-how can I put this in an open forum --a real butt head. Unless your going to buy a trac hoe or a backhoe and spend lots of $$$ he wants nothing to do with you. I'm amazed he is still in business. The same person also owns the same store 30 miles from me as well.
As for green in this area they should be gold--to many tried and true farmers but as far as the dealer very upstanding but won't budge on prices and everyone around here knows that but like I said very honest.

My Kubota dealer is also very honest and has done me right over the years. I will pay more for my tractor to buy from him but it's a two way street. I sure wouldn't get a loaner tractor if I bought off the internet and my money stays local.

Gordon , I went thru the same ordeal about the size of L series to buy. I went with the 4310 after 2 years of looking and trying different machines. The added power of the 4310 over the 3710 might allow you to run a few less rpms and still do the same work thereby makeing the machine last longer??? Like Mark advised the 4 cylinder engine of the 3 top models make them a bit smoother. You are looking at good machines no doubt. Good luck with your choice. Ask Mark which transmission is the Best!

Gordon; I purchase a L3010 last spring and like it so much that I traded it in on a L4310 last winter. The L4310 does every thing the L3010 does only easier and quicker which is what I was hoping for. You should test ride the Cab model it is really nice.

Gordon let me add to my previous post. You asked how we worked our machines. I use a heavy duty disc, a heavy duty scrape blade , heavy duty rollover box blade. The hardest work I guess is using the box blade to push over trees. It will surprise you how well that works although probably not good to do constantly. You very rapidly learn what size to fool with and what is better left to a real dozer. Hope this helps a little.

The 3710 would be the smallest that I'm looking at right now and the 4610 being the largest. My head spins on
I'm going to talk to the dealer again tomorrow so I guess by tomorrow night I will really be confused or closed a deal time will tell.

I have thought of a major reason to own a non-HST transmission. If you plan on doing any grading, tilling or other tractor work of the sort that I do, and you plan on doing it for hire in the Eastern Virginia area, I don't think you should buy an HST. I'm really enjoying getting all the compliments on how much more I get done than the other guys, and how good an operator I am. I'd hate for somebody else with an HST to show up - then they'd find out it's the tractor and not me! So, to any of you guys in my area: "Find 'em or grind 'em, guys. Mark on your hydraulic rear links how do you know that they are level do you have a float on them? Thanks

Gordon - I would think the 3710 would be fine. As I said, I've never found hp to be a limiting factor on the L4310, so I don't see why a little less would be a big problem.

No, I don't have a float position on the the rear links, I just eyeball them.

Well today I was at the dealer talking with the owner way past closing time. The decision is down to two the L-3710 and the L-4310. The numbers he has are very favorable for both models. He has a 4310 on the lot that got the hood dented by a trachoe so if I take that one it would almost be the same price as the 3710. Another good thing is the Kubota rep is coming tomorrow and he's going to try to work him alittle as well. It's finally coming together.

The numbers today were for the 4310 with t-n-t, front end loader of course 4wd and a heavy duty rear blade. So maybe by the end of the week my head will stop spinning, I'm starting to get dizzy.

Gordon - I think a maniac like you should definitely go for the pre-dented one. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif That way, you won't feel nearly as bad when you put the first one in it.

Besides, for even money, you'll appreciate the extra power, too.

A personal question: Realistically, how much blame does this board get for your buying a new tractor now? Maybe you've thought about it, maybe not, but do you think you'd be replacing your old one now, if you weren't on this board all the time and thinking about it? Just curious...
