I have come up with kit that will allow anyone to add a tool box behind the seat of a L2800-3400 Kubota tractor .
3 pieces uses existing 3 point top bar hanger and Slow Moving Vehicle sign , Kubota Orange , bolts right up just add box .
PM me if interested .

The box I used is the maximum width I would use but can be longer or taller and not hurt anything .
It is nice having a place to put some small tools and gloves on the tractor .

Nice looking addition and very convenient position for a tool box. Another member also posted an easy semi-convenient place in the loader tube on those tractors with a 4" ABS drain plug on each end?

Excellent setup!. Wish your post was up a day or two in advance. I think I would have gone with your setup.

When I checked out behind th seat as a spot, I didn't think about moving the slow moving vehicle sign back and so it didn't seem like there was enough room. Your setup solves that problem nicely!

The TB is a lot less out of the way in my setup but I think I am liking it as I tend to access it most when I am off the tractor. I think that I ought to bolt on a strip of metal at the back of the tool box to help re-inforce the fit. I'm a heck of a lot less handy than the rest of the guys here but I figure there is only one way to learn right?

Here is mine.

I thought about that location or on top of the fender . There is not much places to put a tool box on a L2800-3400 .

Here is another view , I know some people can make this them selves , but if someone wants a pre-made kit let me know .

dcam0079.jpg

I used 3"x3" angle 3/16" thick , 11"s long then welded a 3"x2"x3/16" tab in center for support and to relocate hook , drilled holes to match Slow Moving Vehicle sign bracket in both front and back of box (centered) and drilled a hole for the hook in bottom of box .
Made a brace 3/4"x1/8" and length as needed for the small angle fender brace between the fenders that toolbox now mounts to , so toolbox would not twist or tweak the fender brace .
Nice and sturdy , and quite handy as well .

New tool box .
I went to Wal-mart and picked up a $10 tool box , inverted the piece and secured the new tool box , now I have a tray and storage under it .
Only drawback is , have to raise seat to access tool box , but it can be opened from either side of the tractor now .

Looks like mine except for the color.:) I didn't have to make a mounting bracket because the little shrimp of a plastic factory tool box was mounted in the same place.

it's great to see what other folks come up with when it comes to customizing..

i thought about adding one where you guys have but with a backhoe, the seat takes up all of that space. i am thinking of attaching one on top of the rear fender just behind the cup holder but haven't gotten further than just thinking about it. i don't have too much to carry but even a small space for a couple wrenches would be nice. for now i tend to use my cupholder but it's not really a good place either..

I thought about that location. It is between me and the top link bar which I tend to adjust.

I am now looking at mounting the box off of the right hand floor board in front of the reat tire. This would be easy access but the tire will fling dirt on it.

Something I have been working on , a different bracket one that is lighter and doesn't look like a cut piece of metal .
The steel bar stock is 5/16 and the plate is still 3/16 , tool box size will be the same , ammo or other box .

Will post finished pics tomorrow .

O-k , this my final thought on a way to add a tool box to the L2800-3400 .
Tool box is in a cage and can be lifted out at any time and taken closer to your work if needed .

Not painted and just a mock up but can see how it would work .

I must have had my top link in the wrong hole... but I smashed my little triangle and bent the metal rod that you guys are bolting to. I don't think I have room to spare back there.... and also, I change my top link from my seat. I could use a tool box but I'm still trying to find an out of the way location. I thought about bolting one on the front. I have the army box, just gotta git'R done.

One problem that I would have with this location is that I have to reach back to turn my snowblower chute. I have to take the SMV sign off to be able to do it comfortably as it is.

Someone taller than me probably won't have this problem.

Funny , I can reach with either the tool box on or off .
Had the wife try , she is short , she could not reach with either on or off .
So tool box or no tool box if you are to short to reach don't blame the tool box . :D
