This 3PT problem may be why when I went to a Kubota dealer and asked about new tractors , they push the L4400 now .
Make a DVD and send it to Cooperate and see if it does any good .
My wife and I are going to make one (DVD) titled "How to make a Milk Shake with a 3 Point Hitch on a Kubota tractor" .

If you could put it side by side with a similarly priced Green Tractor, I bet you'd really get some interest.......

Perhaps the reason they can get away with this is because the L2800/L3400 has captured a bit of a niche in the tractor market - no frills tractor like the JD790 but with HST.

JD has put out the 3203 but I can't really see why anyone would buy one given the prices difference to a 3120. That said, I don't anymore see the reason to have bought the L3400 given the few k $ between it and the GL tractors - for no other reason than this "economy tractor" crap.

If you buy a Economy car , it has everything a luxury car has , just not the bells and whistles , but does that mean if it jerks violently to the right when you drive it it is ok because it is a Economy car ?
I bought a Economy version of a Learjet , doesn't have all the things the Luxury version has , it flies with a jerking in air lift , that is ok because it was the Economy version .
Economy does not mean the product can have noticeable issues and be deemed ok because it is the Economy version .
Why wasn't I given the option when buying the tractor to "upgrade" to the 3 point valve of my choice ?

i would try it at idle. My flow regulator is almost all the way closed i had to mess with mine a bit. too far closed and the 3 point drops way too slow, too far open and the 3 point raises way too quick which is what causes the jerky movements
I may be wrong, but i don't think the valve you are talking about has any affect on the speed your three point hitch raises, just the speed it loweres the implement.

i have never tried to get mine replaced?? Mine works smooth as i have it set now. i can make it jerk if i mess with the setting and RPM   I dont think that makes mine bad????
Have you ever used a rear blade, or box blade on your tractor? It would be very hard to feather whatever you are working with if you have to idle your tractor down to keep the three point from jerking when you raise it. Thats where the problem is when trying to feather dirt, rock or whatever material you are woking with.

i do use a box blade? i dont have any problems feathering the 3 point?? i mostly use the foot throttle unless im using the the cutting brakes. i dont see a point in having the throttle set at 2 grand all the time. the only time i use a constant set RPM is when i using the PTO

Ok , I will solve this argument , mine will do it idling or under throttle .
In fact at idle or no matter what the lowering valve is set at the 3 point jerks , I will try and make a video to show that today .
It is a major problem that can't be down played with some simple theories .

Mahana - you sure you don't have the new valve to begin with?

I puttered around a fair bit with the regulator under the seat before I concluded that I had the 1 inching jerky valve.

It sounds like all the tractors sold over the last year or more have had the replacement valve which was put into production.

One way or the other if you are happy with what you've got and it works for you then thats all that matters.

Is your tractor an HST tranny or gear driven? That will make a huge difference.. It sounds like yours is gear driven. When I had my L2800 HST, if I had my box blade loaded up with material, depending which range I was in, I had to have max RPM's.

Yes mine is a gear tranny. never ran a HST but ican see where that would make a differance in operating RPM. We do have hydrostatic drive equipment at work at they run at 2500 rpm all the time.

i guess i got a valve that was made in between bad and good :D :D either way no matter what if you arent happy with its operation the dealer should make every attempt to make you happy well atleast a good dealer would. IMHO
