Kubota L3130 JD X750 and X350
I was out this morning wasting time at a local Kubota dealer and notice a new L3130 with the tires set really wide. Alot wider than my own. So I asked the guy and he said he switches left to right and right to left. I looks like you gain about 10" more in width. I like this but thought I read somewhere that Kubota did not recomend this. Have they changed there thoughts.....did I read wrong.....or is this dealer doing something against Kubota recomendations? Do any of you folks with a L3130 have there tires swapped? I think this sure would help with stability.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by swapping left for right.. etc. Do you mean he's mounted the wheels inside out? I didn't even know that was possible! It would seem to me that this would change the weight distribution and possibly put a lot more stress on the lug bolts.

It must be very odd looking. If you get a chance to post a photo I'm sure there would be great interest in it!

My understanding is that on some tractors this is optional. You dish the wheels out or in according to your personal preference.

My B2910 is dished out already, and there is such low clearance they would only fit one way from what I can see...if you want them a lttle wider you have to buy a special spacer, which some here at tbn have done.

If the dealer is doing it, I would expect (hope) he knows what he is doing??? Somehow I am not surprised this is possible on the L series, but I also remember reading concerns about extra stresses on rear axles...was that in a dual rear wheel thread?

Would enjoy a picture!

I will get some pics of the L3130's to show you all how this dealer is mounting his tires. Hopefully I will have some time tomarrow to get the pics and post them.

You can change the position of the dish on the wheel and/or you can swap the wheels from side to side (to keep the tread running the same direction). It is not recommended with the fronts on 4WD models because it changes the stress on the bevel gear cases. Be sure to re-torque after changing any lugs. Hope this helps.

Hillsider , I just went through widening the spacing of the rear tires on mine . I have r4's so the spacing options (to the center of the tire) are 52.2, 53.5 and 57.7 inches .
For R1's it's 47.2 ,51.2 ,54.5,and 58.3 inches .
It's described on pg. 62 of the owners manual .

I'm ordering mine with the tires set to their widest spacing since I'll spend a lot of time on hills. It should also improve stability when loading. Kubota designed the wheels to be adjustable... I wouldn't think the lug bolts would be overstressed by mounting them in the widest position.

Well today I went up to the dealer to snap some pics. Here is a L3130 with R1 tires mounted the widest I have ever seen. Next to it is a L3430 with the R4 tires and mounted the same way. I wish I could have gotten a pic of the inside of the rim but this dealler was stocked to the hilt with tractors and they were to close together. The valve stem is on the outside of the rim and the dealer said he takes the left and mounts it on the right and vice versa. Check out how the tire sticks out past the fender.

Here is a shot of the rim on my tractor. The dealer where I bought mine said this was the widest setting. So what do guys think? I measured the width of my tractor and it is about 59.5 or 60" or so from outside of the rim to outside of the rim. I would like the added stability. I think you would get another 8 to 10 inches in width.
